Holly-G has been fired from doing the show. I honestly think she was the glue that kept that show together, so we will see what happens in the future. I'm glad we have the dopecast with people that do this for the love of it and keep the drama side out of it.

You can see the thread here:
http://marijuanaradio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=753

I also received this in an e-mail, which I don't mind posting, since she has been very public with what happenend.
Also, she likes the dopecast. I found out about the show when Zandor did an interview on it.

HI!

i know its sad! I was FIRED for no reason. Just for getting gifts from sponsors. But I am the HOST and that is something I cant help. But they were jealous and didnt like that I was in the spotlight. It sucks that people are like this. Hypocrites. Now the show is run by 2 people who dont even smoke or know the culture. A lot of the listeners are banning the show and taking them off their top lists. Some are also sending emails and messages about how stupid and a mistake it was. I did everything for Marijuana Radio, and was never compensated!

I like dopefiend, they have some good shows.

Paul wants to host it by himself and have the fame. SO here he goes.

Thanks for writing and for the concern. Spread the word. the truth. No secrets or fakeness here. I am an avid activist and medical marijuana patients.

Peace

HOLLYG

Although I've heard Zandor mention the show I have never listened to it....yet.

Shame about the dramas over there - I take it that Holly-G was getting paid for doing the shows and receiving samples/free stuff on the side? Oh well - some ppl take life too seriously!

Also, I don't want to jump to conclusions but I'm not sure how a couple of non-stoners could even present a station called 'Marijuana Radio'

Either way, quit or be fired, it seems like quite a loss to the station though....

I thought the show was alright, mainly listened to it for the music and the cannabis news, althought it was full of adverts and sporsors which i didn't agree on, to be honest it never compared to the dopecast thats why i only listened to it when id run out of dopecast shows to listen to:p

although it sucks that holly g went, i listened to it last night and she wasnt on and i didnt even get half way through it, it sucked, bad.

ill prolly take it off itunes if it gets any worse. and yeah the other two dudes dont seem like they know very much..atall.

Edit - its kindda funny too as a few weeks ago they had a glass blower on, and one of the presenters dan K was hinting to fuck to get a new pipe and the dude said he'll hook him up.. i dont think holly got paid for doing the show atall.. and when shes going to places like the hemp fest..and interviewing people in the buisness then why the hell should she not recieve any freebies? im sure the other two guys did.

Hi Everyone!

I HATE drama. I am a very laid back person. I was in Amsterdam, filming and getting interviews and I come back to this. No warning.

I did all the work for Amsterdam alone, booked and followed through on all interviews. Like I do all of the shows for Marijuana Radio, I write, book , acquire music and choose play lists every week, schedule interviews, and even contact people that could be potential sponsors.

Paul owns the studio, and does the editing and sound board.

They only pay I received is a small cut from any paid sponsors(like for a banner or commercial) and every weekend I promoted the show at bars/events/clubs. They would choose which ones they would pay me for(very rarely)

I would get shirts and pipes to use and take pictures with. Including a RASTA bike which they sent me in trade to model with it. That is one of the main reasons I got fired. They didnt send a bike for Paul or his wife.

I am still working hard at what I do, and plan on continuing. I am on the hunt for the perfect outlet. We will see where this goes.

Marijuana Radio from a non-herbal space, can't imagine that man.

Are any of your back shows available for download?

Don't worry too much, shit happens and don't forget green people are very discerning so I can't see them surviving long.

Stay genuine.

PS what on earth is a Rasta bike; red, gold and green?

I would like to ask everyone to judge Marijuana Radio by it's own merit. As well, I would like everyone to judge me personally by your experience with me.

Holly is naturally angry being let go from the show and telling many falsehoods that paint her a victim. One falsehood is that I don't smoke. That's ridiculous because I wake and bake everyday, and smoke marijuana all day long, so it's preposterous to say that I don't smoke since I have with her many times, and started when I was 21(I'm 34 now). And furthermore, isn't it silly to hold it against my wife for NOT smoking marijuana? Isn't that an odd reason to judge someone?

I'm an avid reader of marijuana magazines, so I obviously must have learned something about culture...I feel silly arguing about culture...it's so relative and not even relevant to the argument of Holly being fired.

Indeed Holly has been receiving growing compensation with the growth of the show, and she was let go for many reasons beyond what she says publicly.

I must say that she did do many great things for the show, in addition we payed her extra to come to weekly meetings and promote. It's true that she booked many guests and prepared many show topics, but we simply cannot continue working with her for a multitude of reasons.

We still owe her money, which we have every full intention of paying.

We had rules that Holly could not understand or follow, and sadly, it has led to her dismissal.

We are still very sad that Holly is not with us and it must be this way. We wish her the best in whatever she decides to do. We also appreciate folks who will continue to appreciate MJR for what it is.

I will be filling in for a while until we find a new permanent female cohost for the show. I do not want to be center stage in the program forever, but welcome the challenge for the time being.

I'm really sorry it didn't work out, and I would ask everyone to kindly not fan the flames of this sad situation.

Hi all involved :)

I'm sorry to hear that you've lost your spot HollyG. I'm sure that there are two sides to this guys, and I hope both sides can sort it out as privately as possible.

Peace,

I'm an avid reader of marijuana magazines, so I obviously must have learned something about culture.. Well he must be cool if he reads marijuana magazines, right. I'm sure he only wants to be a "real" stoner keeping it real. Obviously he's dedicated to the cause and isn't trying to sell us anything we don't need. MarijuanaRadio you keep it real just like "HIGH TIMES" and you'll get the credd you deserve.

See what happens when I am away! Shit just goes to hell in a hand basket.

Holly I am so sorry, I thought you were the PRO of that group. The others were just comic sidekicks. And they did not do that very well IMO.

Anything I can do the offer help let me know please. I do have a great domain to run an INTERNET radio station with. Pot.FM is mine I just do not have the time to get it up and running yet.

Something to think of maybe?

Peace

I just heard the latest episode, and all I have to say is that it was a mess.

I have enjoyed the past episodes, even with the changes, but this latest episode was pretty ugly.
Dan K, was way too high, and the stereotypical stoner and annoying as hell. Paul, just wants to talk to hot chicks (not that that's a bad thing) and ask them "shock jock" type questions, rather than help them promote their product or cause.

I listen to many podcasts, and enjoy listening to all the counter-culture podcasts, and I don't believe that there should not be any comptetition since we can listen to them on our own time, and not when the radio stations force us to. I also, like hearing all the underground music that they have, so that's mostly what keeps me listening, plus my fast forward button works real well, so on that I wish them the best of luck fine tuning the show. I just feel, that Paul has talent in producing the show, and it just needs some more fine tuning in controlling Dan K's antics. He's fine in small doses, but from show to show, it is all over the place.

I know Paul may read this, since he likes to read about himself ;) I will continue to listen, just hope that it doesn't get too out of hand, and end up being uncomfortable.

I skipped posting the first time I saw this, but since it came up again and the drama has past.... I have to say that M. Radio was one of the first podcasts I ever unsubscribed from.

I emailed them in their early shows and let them know I was un-subscribing because I felt that the typical stoner humor was doing more harm for the cause then good. I have blazed my share of weed, and never had to come off as a rambling immature derelict. To put it on the air in any way that would indicate they are pro cannabis reform group was just to hypocritical for me. (example they had Mason Travert (sp?) on the show when he was behind a big push for safer, and the only topic they wanted to get out of him was if he toked).

I do support free speech, but if you truly care about something, do it right and represent.

<stepping off soap box... sorry for the rant>

I was not happy when HollyG left and wish she was still on the air. I do listen to MJR regularly, I like the show for the most part. I post on their forum a little bit, so they know what I think of them over all.

Paul is a talented producer, and he knows that I think he's way too Howard Sternish. Even the makeup of the show...Paul as HS, Dan K as Jackie/Artie, and McKenna as Robin...oh yeah...there is also an intern...all that's missing is BabaBooey.

Anyway, I like the show and think the crew does a very good job. As representatives of the cannabis culture, it is very important that they each know what they are talking about...ALL of them should know much more about the activist issues they address on each show. They get great guests (Tommy Chong, Mason Tvert, etc...) and seem to have alot of fun. I think Dan K is very funny (I'd see his act if he was in my area), and McKenna is growing comfortable with the show...I'd like to see her be more assertive (kinda like HollyG) and not get buried in the banter of Dan and Paul.

HollyG...can we hear you anywhere now?

Keep having fun ya'll,

Steel

I must admit I stopped listening soon after HollyG left not downloaded an episode in a while I suppose its time to give it another go.

Although it is a bit more slick than the dopecast it is just not in the same league as far as community and bringing the Cannabis Community together.

I hope it improves as the more cannabis based media out there the better

IMO the DF Network is unparalleled. :) That's not a kiss ass comment...just based on my experience with other online communities.

I've listened to the show from the start, before DanK, before Holly, if memory serves. Anyway, I actually emailed hollyg early on (maybe show 15) because I thought paul's behavior would be the death of the show (she may remember, he was laughing during a very important story relating to medicinal marijuana at a very inappropriate time). Against my better judgment, I stuck with the show. Most of the interviews that were conducted by Holly came off very awkward and she spoke with confidence about many marijuana topics without having her facts straight. Paul was often inappropriate, if not totally ridiculous. No matter who caused the problems with the environment, the show seemed (based on my humble opinion) very uncomfortable.

I guess the main reason why I'm leaving this post is to state how far the show has come. Paul's production skills have skyrocketed and he's managed to keep his tongue under control. Since hollyG's "departure" the show is VASTLY more comfortable. This show has gone from being one that used to leave me angered that these people were allowed to bear such a significant banner (marijuana radio), to being one that is really a show that I look forward to. They're getting in to some video too which has been great.

In summary, the quality of this show has really improved since the beginning and, no matter who's fault it is, the show is considerably better without Holly.

Just one man's opinion. I didn't see much from any longtime listeners of Marijuana Radio so I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

There's room for everyone in podcast land.................

Peace

MJ radio is lame, sorry but i can't get behind what ever it is that these guys are trying to do. I have tried to get into it several times and it just turns me off. Dan K refers to one of his crew as a "Fag" and then goes on with penis jokes on show #64. Immature and offensive. Unsubscribed since 12/14/07
