Hello Everyone,

I didn't find a thread for new users to introduce themselves in so I thought Id start one. Forgive me if one already exists.

Well, I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I am new to the podcast network here. Except for the Psychedelic Salon, of which I am a long term listener. A few friends of mine recommended this forum to me and now that Ive checked it out, I am glad they did.

A little more about me. I have studied Ethnobotany (on and off) especially psychoactive plants since 1992. I was an occasional participant in some BPC events. I am an active member of www.entheogen.com (http://www.entheogen.com/forum/) and also the proprietor of GaianBotanicals.com (http://www.gaianbotanicals.com/).

Well I guess thats enough of an introduction. More then anything I just wanted to say high!.

RE: My music. This is more of a casual hobby of mine these days. I DJ'ed and worked with digital music professionally when I was younger. However since then I hadn't done much music wise. Kykeon was an experimental project I had been working on periodically over a couple years. Thus when I signed up for myspace I did not register as a musician and have none of my work on there. :(

Sometime early next year I'll be doing a few interviews with EROCx1 about some of the plants and herbs that are still available to the entheogenic explorer without having to worry about legal issues such as those that surround cannabis and other sacred medicines. If you have any questions about some of these medicines, maybe you can post them on TheGrowReport forums, and we'll pick them up as questions.

Symbiont in regards to your "which forum you post it on" dilema just go under Dopecast if its about which would be better for what or put it under The Grow Report for health questions or just post it where ever and see if someone has your answer (most likely someone will).

Entheogens are a big thing here on the forum and I know someone will be able to help you on that subject no matter the question. :D

Hello to the Cannabis Podcast Network! I've been listening to the podcasts for about two months now, trying to catch up (and there's a lot to indulge in). I've really begun to like Psychonautica a lot, as it is similar to Psychedelic Salon, which I've listened to for a long while. I was really starting to get into The Sounds of World Wide Weed but sadly I suppose Ninja is done with his podcast for now.

I've only been smoking cannabis for about a year and a half. My experiences with psychedelics is also fairly limited. I had my first trip with salvia in a black light closet a year and a half ago. I then went on to purchase mushrooms in Amsterdam and took them in London's Hyde Park, which was a life-changing experience for me. After that, I moved on to LSD, which seems to be my true calling, as I've had a lot of eye-opening experience with acid trips. Last week I tried morning glory for the first time.

Books have always held a special interest for me. I was wondering what books or authors anyone could advise. I've read a bunch of the classics; Castaneda, Wolfe, Robert Anton Wilson, etc. Recently I've started reading more scientific literature as well.

All in all, I suppose I just wanted to say thanks to all on the network for the great shows! Hopefully I will be able to stop by the chat or write up some trip reports for Psychonautica.

I have to second the Pendell recommendation. I first came across Pharmako/Poeia in a public library about a decade ago. A poet trickster's loving and literary exploration of our plant allies. What a trip!

I haven't read Dynamis (yet!) but I picked up a copy of Gnosis last year. I found it a bit uneven but when it shines ... wow does it ever shine.

With a name like bigdirtyfoot, you have to be a champ! Welcome aboard. I wish I had a resource like this when I had limited psychedelic experiences. I am no max freak out but my first trip was when I was way younger than I should have been, and given to me in the parking lot of a friends house with no where good to go that night and no idea what to expect. It was just a "hey man, you like weed, eat this for cheap and you'll be wasted all night"
I got smarter over time and got "the calling" to play some more. Sometimes at home, some times at dead shows (sorry to all you who will not have the opportunity to put that in your life experience box). And I am glad I did but it isn't something I recommend as it isn't for everyone and bad trips are not that rare if you don't heed the warnings of set, setting and intention. Been several years since my last trip of any sort, but that is fine with me.

Love my MaryJane though. The only girl to have never let me down. ;)

I've been listening to back episodes of the dopecast for several months now, which led me to discover psychonautica as well as lorenzo's psychedelic salon. I must admit that as someone who has spent the better part of my relatively short life trying to discover "the rest of the story" that it seems is left out by organized religion and society of today, I feel like I have finally discovered other like-minded individuals. I have started gobbling up all of the info I can through reading and listening to various podcasts and lectures online. I have read breaking open the head by pinchbeck and I am currently working on the invisible landscape by mckenna, as well as the spirit molecule by strassman. Sorry for the long-windedness of this introductory post, but it is so exciting to finally have a place to discuss these topics with others. i 'm new to this site.... i used to write and moderate on the old cannabis.com(marihemp site), wrote on the old overgrow.com, moderated for a canadian site, and bred for a seedbank...i had too much heat, had to lay low for a few years, and now that i get back into it, everything has changed. (heaven's stairway is shut down and richard got arrested, gyspy moved to the dam, etc..)

I look forward to helping and possibly learning a bit myself here.... things have certainly changed in the past few years, and i'm sort of out of date with all the new techniques, additives, etc..

I'm currently living in the USA (I live in Pennsylvania) and I've recently been turned on to this website and I'm happy to say that I've fallen in love!

Because of my almost obsessive attraction and bond with Entheogens I decided first to start off with Psychonautica, which I've been listening to for about two weeks now (currently on the 15th episode). Hello All-

It's been a couple of months since I signed up for the forums, but I'm just now getting around to making an introduction. I've been listening to the Dopefiend network of podcasts for about 6 months now, and I am completely hooked. I discovered the network through the Psychedelic Salon with Lorenzo, and I'm sure that I'm not alone in the way I came here. I originally discovered the Salon while researching Terrence McKenna over a year ago and was very excited to find the treasure house of recordings that Lorenzo has made available to the world -- I can't thank him enough for that. His show also turned me onto the C-Realm with KMO, which I get so much out of every episode. Anyway, with the Salon and all of the great podcasts on the DFN, I feel very hopeful about the technological future; of course the corporate world has without a doubt gotten its hooks into the Internet, but this network has proven that there's still plenty of space for original content and diverse opinions to flourish if you're willing to look for them. And there are still places for people with similar interests to meet and exchange ideas. It's a great inspiration, and I've been busy for the past couple of months getting my own podcast moving.

Another great Podcast that has recently come to an end, and which I've been listening to since it began was Thelema Coast to Coast, with John Crow. At the end of his podcast John expressed a bit of disappointment that other Thelemic podcasts haven't popped up since he started his show. I have been contemplating a show that examines occult and psychedelic themes through the literary works of both genres, and which focuses on the places in which these worlds come together theoretically and in practical application. It's all about pushing the envelop of human consciousness, and both realms have played a big part in my own development, and from the occult references that I occasionally run across in user profiles and postings, I know that I am not unique in this regard. As a result, I am finally close to releasing my first podcast and website. They should be online sometime during this next week. I hope that everyone will give it a listen. Please be generous of spirit though -- it's my first time in front of a mic, and I still need to get used to it. When everything is up and running, I'll post a link.

thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself. I feel fortunate that there's still a group of people out there that thinks and lives outside of the pop-culture mess that dominates the thoughts and actions of humanity today.

Well, I suppose now that I've been here a bit I should probably introduce myself. I'm JEDCORE! I've been listening to the Psychedelic Salon for quite a long time now and that's how I found this wonderful forum and network. So, I guess you could say Lorenzo sent me.
I think I started listening somewhere around dopecast 60 or so. I listen to every show on the network, they're all great.
So anyway, about me... I'm 24, I'm from MinneSNOWta, and I work in the car parts industry currently. I'm a musician, I play bass, guitar, sing, dabble a bit with making stuff from loops on the computer. A friend of mine and I have started our own recycling company and hopefully that'll take off soon so I can live off that instead of working for a corporation that likes to do the random piss test thing. That doesn't stop me, though, I still love to smoke the sacred herb. That's what Zydot is for, right?
So, yeah... Things have changed for me a bit over the last few years. I've been living in the ghetto off and on for the last 5 or 6 years and in the past got pretty heavy into the meth game and pretty intense addiction. I'm very grateful that there are sacred medicines like mushrooms and marijuana that have helped me a great deal in overcoming many negative things in my life.
I used to deal and lived pretty well while I did, until the meth got thrown in the mix... Yadda yadda yadda, you all know the rest, that shit's bad and it fucked up a lot for me, or rather I chose to fuck up a lot for me because the shit was more important than anything.
Can't blame the drugs, right? That wouldn't be fair. ;)
I've been very interested in entheogens ever since my first LSD experience back when I was about 15 (too young for that, btw).
So anyway, here I am. I found this great community and now I have some folks I can relate to.
Oh, and I just got done failing at my first mushroom grow and I'm about to attempt it again and also a bonsai MJ tree (yeah, I'm serious, I don't have any room to work with here, and plus a bonsai MJ would just be cool to have).
My fiancee listens to some of the podcasts with me. She's not quite so into the talk oriented stuff unless it's like a McKenna lecture or something. Maybe I can get her to jump on here sometime... Or hey, maybe you'll hear her voice in a podcast someday if I ever get to it.
One last thing, I'm huge friggen nerd, so I appologize in advance for any lame World of Warcraft or Star Wars jokes.

hi, im edward im 14, and live in London.
I looked around the site and found no mention of age restrictions but i will understand fully if you dont want me posting. I suffer from CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and due to this i suffred from constant stomach pain for the last three and a half years. During the last three and a half years i have only been able to attend %10-%20 of school. I first tried weed when i was thirteen and it took me 6 times before i got high, when this happened i had no pain for the first time in 2years. I find that Marijuana will releave my pain for around 5 hours and will help with my sleep patterns (i normally get about 3-4 hours a night). I only smoke when i have really bad pain (such bad pain that i cant even walk up stairs or even move for days at a time) or socially. I do not drink, i do not smoke ciggarettes and i dont do drugs... except weed.

Ive been listening to the podcast's for about 4 months now and i love all the podcasts, particulaly BB's bungalow and Toking with the Toker.

Hi BB, i know fourteen is considered young but we have persued all possibiltys of treatment including hypnotherapy and ive been diagnosed with about eight different medical conditions. At this point nobody really knows whats wrong with and if its going to be with me for the rest of my or a matter of years. Painkillers genrally are pretty inaffective and the affective ones would just nuke my liver.
I know most people of my age would say the same thing but i consider myself to be older than my years. I have spent so much time being mucked around by so many doctors and other medical proffessionals and i have had to live a life not beffiting to a fourteen year old. I understand your concern about possible affects on a growing brain but i only smoke about two to three times a week and the benaficial effects far out way the alleged negative effects of MJ.

Edd, welcome to the forums. I am glad to hear you have found some good medicine. Taking everything into consideration I think it sounds like the right thing for you. I have no reason to actually believe that this plant inhibits cognitive development at all. So many people your age are on legal speed (Ritalin) anti-depressants, TV and God only knows what else. I started smoking pot when I was 14, and hey I am no rocket scientists but I doubt I would have been anyway. I have no doubt that MJ will change a person, but I don’t see that as a negative. How many kids just sit round playing shoot ‘em up video games on a raunchy adderal high? So, that why I say all things considered, it’s sounds like the right thing for you.
With so many medical problems you would have run a very high risk of being on some toxic combination of several different pharmaceuticals which in the long run could have cause major damage to your internal organs, as I see you are aware.
And there just isn’t any reason to believe the plant will do that to you.
I wonder anyway, if we took a poll how many here waited till the magick age of 18 to partake of lots of things, haha.
Maybe someday you can partake of a proper ayahuasca or peyote ceremony and maybe get to the bottom of these physical symptoms you have.

Aldous Huxley identified the potential of entheogens as tools for
education in contemporary Western culture. Although better known as a
novelist than as a philosopher of education, Huxley spent a considerable
amount of time — particularly as he neared the end of his life — addressing
the topic of education. Like much of his literature, Huxley’s observations
and critiques of the socio-cultural forces at work in his time were cannily
prescient; they bear as much, if not more, relevance in the twenty-first
century than when they were written. Most remarkably, and relevant to
my thesis, Huxley saw entheogens as possible educational tools.
Under the current dispensation the vast majority of individuals lose, in the course of
education, all the openness to inspiration, all the capacity to be aware of other things than
those enumerated in the Sears-Roebuck catalogue which constitutes the conventionally
“real” world. . . . Is it too much to hope that a system of education may some day be
devised, which shall give results, in terms of human development, commensurate with the
time, money, energy and devotion expended? In such a system of education it may be that
mescalin or some other chemical substance may play a part by making it possible for
young people to “taste and see” what they have learned about at second hand . . . in the
writings of the religious, or the works of poets, painters and musicians. (Letter to Dr.
Humphrey Osmond, April 10, 1953, in Horowitz & Palmer, 1999, p.30)
In a more literary expression of this notion, Huxley’s (1962) final novel,
Island, portrayed an ideal culture that achieved a balance of scientific and
spiritual thinking, and that also incorporated the ritualized use of
entheogens for education.

Edd, welcome to the forums. I am glad to hear you have found some good medicine. Taking everything into consideration I think it sounds like the right thing for you. I have no reason to actually believe that this plant inhibits cognitive development at all. So many people your age are on legal speed (Ritalin) anti-depressants, TV and God only knows what else. I started smoking pot when I was 14, and hey I am no rocket scientists but I doubt I would have been anyway. I have no doubt that MJ will change a person, but I don’t see that as a negative. How many kids just sit round playing shoot ‘em up video games on a raunchy adderal high? So, that why I say all things considered, it’s sounds like the right thing for you.
With so many medical problems you would have run a very high risk of being on some toxic combination of several different pharmaceuticals which in the long run could have cause major damage to your internal organs, as I see you are aware.
And there just isn’t any reason to believe the plant will do that to you.
I wonder anyway, if we took a poll how many here waited till the magick age of 18 to partake of lots of things, haha.
Maybe someday you can partake of a proper ayahuasca or peyote ceremony and maybe get to the bottom of these physical symptoms you have.

Aldous Huxley identified the potential of entheogens as tools for
education in contemporary Western culture. Although better known as a
novelist than as a philosopher of education, Huxley spent a considerable
amount of time — particularly as he neared the end of his life — addressing
the topic of education. Like much of his literature, Huxley’s observations
and critiques of the socio-cultural forces at work in his time were cannily
prescient; they bear as much, if not more, relevance in the twenty-first
century than when they were written. Most remarkably, and relevant to
my thesis, Huxley saw entheogens as possible educational tools.
Under the current dispensation the vast majority of individuals lose, in the course of
education, all the openness to inspiration, all the capacity to be aware of other things than
those enumerated in the Sears-Roebuck catalogue which constitutes the conventionally
“real” world. . . . Is it too much to hope that a system of education may some day be
devised, which shall give results, in terms of human development, commensurate with the
time, money, energy and devotion expended? In such a system of education it may be that
mescalin or some other chemical substance may play a part by making it possible for
young people to “taste and see” what they have learned about at second hand . . . in the
writings of the religious, or the works of poets, painters and musicians. (Letter to Dr.
Humphrey Osmond, April 10, 1953, in Horowitz & Palmer, 1999, p.30)
In a more literary expression of this notion, Huxley’s (1962) final novel,
Island, portrayed an ideal culture that achieved a balance of scientific and
spiritual thinking, and that also incorporated the ritualized use of
entheogens for education.

I find myself more recently just trying to ignore all negative aspects of my life and i had actually wondered weather a entherogenic trip would help me come to terms with a life that is not beffiting. You seem to know alot on the subject so in what setting would i be most likly to experiance a retrospective trip and on what substance? I can probbaly get my hands on ketamine, Salivia and shrooms and mabye acid (not to keen for my first hallucigenic experiance to be on acid but oh well).

Hi Edd, sorry to hear about your medical problems and I'm glad cannabis can help you however it is difficult for forum members to recommend someone of your age to take cannabis let alone recommending you take any shrooms, salvia or acid! These are very powerful substances and should be approached with EXTREME caution, especially by somebody of your age so please read plenty on the subject before you make any decisions. www.erowid.org is an incredible site for such information.

Whatever you choose to do I think its safe to say that we are not a judgemental crowd round these parts, just be careful and really think about the consequences that any substances including cannabis can have on your development. :)

I had worse pain than usual this morning so i medicated ;) I got onto the interwebs and read this thread and didn't really think. I do understand that these drugs are extremly powerful, I do not wish to take any other drugs at this time in my life, mabye when im older (and hopefully wiser) i'l 'explore my mind' but for the meen time its not the best idea.

I know that doesn't always happen... so I am really hoping that it is that way for you.

If I gave out any advise, off the cuff...which I am prone to ..haha, I'd say get outside... into nature as much as you can. You have everything you need to cure yourself, that is just how bodies are built. When something goes wrong it is an imbalance.

Hi BB, i know fourteen is considered young but we have persued all possibiltys of treatment including hypnotherapy and ive been diagnosed with about eight different medical conditions. At this point nobody really knows whats wrong with and if its going to be with me for the rest of my or a matter of years. Painkillers genrally are pretty inaffective and the affective ones would just nuke my liver.
I know most people of my age would say the same thing but i consider myself to be older than my years. I have spent so much time being mucked around by so many doctors and other medical proffessionals and i have had to live a life not beffiting to a fourteen year old. I understand your concern about possible affects on a growing brain but i only smoke about two to three times a week and the benaficial effects far out way the alleged negative effects of MJ.

hey ed man......sorry about the stomach thing man, i also started toking early and i have had terrible stomach trouble too man.

i was a mess for years, couldn't eat, sleep, had cramps everyday but i have got soooo much better with only natural things and some research.......your problems read the same as mine and im sure i can help you out.

if you wanna chat about it at all or need some advice then please pm me bro......your not alone in what your going through and i may be able to offer some of the things that have helped me get through it. :)

can i also add that smoking weed when ill has been the ONLY way for me to sleep at times.

i started smoking weed at 12 but for recreational purposes, now i consider it essential medicine at times.

I don't know the current UK stance on medical marijuana, but can imagine a proper bureaucratic nightmare to obtain permission.

I plan to show up at the Amsterdam 420 gathering and meet some of these good posters.

I'm coming specifically to give the vaporizer a try in helping me with a growing list of ills, in some safe surroundings.

I probably did more than my share of smoke & tripping in the 60's, but left the scene for the most part due to drug testing :eek:, but with regrets.

^ sorry i havnt messaged yet. i just havn't been of the forum for a day or two.

basically i was diagnosed as having colitis 4 years ago after being plauged with bad stomach cramps for several years. then 3 and a half years i got the most awefull back pain one day and i coped with it for several days by pressing my back against a radiator to sooth the pain. i ended up burning my back badly and i was taken to hospital were they took out my appendix. i spent a week in hospital and my pain hasnt stopped since. since then i have been diagnosed with several types of colitis and was recently told that i dont have it anymore but the nerves in my stomach are damaged so they constantly send pain signals to the brain. woot.

I've started from the earliest casts of both, currently at trialogue 10 and dopecast 19, and I'm excited to catch up to the recent ones.

The content is amazing and the things I'm learning are having a strange effect on my daily experiences. I feel curious about .. everything, really, and my thoughts and questions seem to steer the events of my life. I'd like to learn about all the other people who are listening to these two programs and see what kind of impact they've made on everyone.

Hello All! I'm fairly new to the podcasts, I started listening to Lorenzo's in January (only a few months) and all the other great ones here. Most of my expierence with entheogens has been hands-on through my travels in the past 4 years. I have a deep reverence for all the Entheogens. Cannabis has shown me a multitude of epiphanies; the lysergic one, lsa, and mda have amplified my own conciousness; surfacing dazzling, terrifying, phenomonal, and enchanting realms of my own mind/pyche/soul/heart/spirit. Mushrooms did the same but took it to a completly different level of eminent heights.... Dimthyltryptamine also surfaced an intrinsic force of nature to the concious of my consciousness (can I say that?) I have a strong goal to meet an Ayuhuascero and particpate in the traditional ritual. Anyways I am here to learn, to work on myself, help others, and prepare for the next stage of this transition.
