Thanks for that link...I'm trying to learn everything I can about Salvia before I use it.
This quote sums up a good deal of what I've read thus far.
"I tried it last year. Too powerful, quite scary to have one's mental construct of reality pulled away, instantaneiously like a table cloth."
This could also be a clue as to what forms our individual concepts of reality.
I look forward to seeing what's behind the vale.

All I can say is WOW!
A few days after writing that last post, I bought some 25X Purple Sticky brand Salvia from a local joke shop. That night I took one medium sized bong rip, held it for about 20 seconds...and exhaled slowly through my nose. ( I was alone and wanted to start slowly) Within seconds I noticed 2 horizontally opposed, counter rotating "forces" begin slowly 'stirring' my entire surroundings...including myself. As if I were in an old fashioned blender...but I couldn't see the beaters...they were behind the scenes, so to speak...pulling 'reality' as they moved toward each other very slowly. I watched ripples moving in circles in front of and through me.
Last night I did 3 large bong rips, and I'm fairly sure I won't do that again.
I had grown almost complacent to doing 1 strong rip...and finally 1 big rip followed by another smaller one...always getting the same 'motion' effect...only stronger with each bigger hit. Last night was very different, in fact, I don't remember the first few minutes...I sort of blanked out. My eyes where wide open, yet saw nothing...blackness. I have no recollection of what transpired in the first 3 minutes, maybe more. I was in a recliner, facing my 52" HDTV. When I became aware of my surroundings, I was struggling to regain control of my senses. I was completely dissolved in the room, with the image on the TV. I was litterally spread out through the entire room for a few seconds, bringing every bit of available concentration to bear on my situation. I hadn't forgotten that I just smoked Salvia at this point...and was waiting to come down. It was, or could have been absolutely terrifying, but it wasn't...I'd describe it as unpleasant however (very hard to describe...sorry).
Anyway...my point in writing is this:
I've always felt that my consciousness doesn't exist in my body. I believe my brain is a reciever that translates 'my' signal from 'outside' (collective). Perhaps Salvia actually disrupts that reception mechanism...in effect, cutting me off from my ability to create the illusion that is my physical existance.
Anyone follow me?

I tried Salvia once. I had some regular, 5X and 10X. After not feeling too much with the regular I switched to the 5X but didn't achieve what I was expecting so I moved to the 10X and took one or two hits. I immediately felt like I was being pulled away from consciousness and into something else. I fought it because it was so jarring that the only thing I could compare it to would be death, although that sounds very ominous. Anyway, I was suddenly pulled into a dream state where I was a kid and was at an airport with my mother and we were late for a plane. I was pretty suddenly pulled back out of it.
I guess the experience scared me. I may try again. Knowing what to expect I think I could give myself over to it and not fight it. It was certainly a unique and powerful experience. I didn't get any of the visuals people mention, it just grabbed me and took me away. I probably had my eyes closed, but I don't recall.
The one thing I really did not like were the physical sensation, which was sort of like someone was holding a wire under my head and pulling it back and forth. It took maybe a minute or so for this to abate, and I didn't like that part at all.
As part of the same order, I also got Amanita-Muscaria mushrooms. They were decent and didn't upset my stomach. Not as good as psilocybin, but these are legal.
I also got some Lion's Tail which is really beautiful stuff, a lovely red/orange herb, but I don't recall the effects being very spectacular. Maybe I'll try vaping it sometime.
I also got dried sinicuichi/Sun Opener which I haven't tried. Anybody have any experience with this?
Has anybody tried vaping hops? The recommend that at the Volcano site and I'm curious as to what the effects would be, since it is related to pot.

Salvia is just the most incredible drug :eek::eek:
An ancient proverb states, "Why should a man die who has sage in his garden?" :D

Nice quote Max. In fact looking out into my garden the only thing that looks really healthy is a massive patch of Sage ( the cooking herb type)
And it's the most profound and most strange experience I have witnessed. All my latest Salvia trips have had me re-living the most intense parts of mushroom trips I had 20 or more years ago. Very interesting time travel effects.

Nice quote Max. .
by strange coincidence it's on the 'interesting find in local grocery store' thread, the photo in the OP. I got it from wikipedia's salvia divinorum page
