I recently picked up some Dreamtime Blend - a mix of acacia, passiflora and mullein leaves. Acacia contains DMT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimethyltryptamine), passiflora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passiflora) contains "beta-carboline (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta-carboline) harmala alkaloids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmala_alkaloid) which are MAOIs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monoamine_oxidase_inhibitor) with anti-depressant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-depressant) properties", and mullein (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mullein) is "one of the safest and most useful herbal lung tonics. The leaves have an expectorant and soothing action on the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract." (quotes from wikipedia)

My friend Sufi Tootler thinks that it is a blend of unprocessed leaves, and that the MAOIs in the passiflora allow the small quantities of DMT in the acacia to become active. I'm not so sure. Firstly, I would have thought that the quantities naturally present would be too small to be effective. Secondly, I always thought that MAOIs mainly work when used orally, and allow DMT to pass through the first-pass metabolism (digestive system). Can anyone cast any light on this? Could MAOIs work through smoking, to increase the potency of small quantities of DMT? If so, then perhaps this Dreamtime blend is 100% natural. However, I suspect it might be an extract-enriched blend... In any case, it's definitely effective, as you can read below. Unfortunately the supplier has ceased operations, so I hope there is no processing as we might be able to put it together ourselves.

My homie Astral Blitz and I had Saturday evening free and the house was quiet, so it was time to sample the Dreamtime. We put on some ambient music, lit some candles and set up a comfortable space in our lounge room. Our lounge has an open balcony overlooking all the wild trees in our garden, and we could hear a few possums running around. We also have a big colourful mural featuring a dragon, a phoenix and a few spirits, which made for interesting viewing.

I went first and had a regular-sized cone, which for me is one long draw to fill my lungs. I closed my eyes and sat quietly, and had some beautiful closed-eye visuals. I remained very calm, could hear and identify the sounds of the music and the possums very clearly. If I opened my eyes everything was only slightly distorted, but with closed eyes I was getting constantly morphing fractal geometrical patterns. Thoughts which came to my head manifested visually within the patterns but they kept shifting and changing, and any attempt to grasp the patterns mentally was fruitless. After a few minutes I opened my eyes and felt mostly back to normal. Compared to my salvia experiences I was left feeling that this was a bit of eye-candy but not so profound.

Next up Astral Blitz, whose previous psychedelic experiences were limited to some LSD many years previously. I recommended closing eyes, but she later told me the sound of the candle sputtering told her to open her eyes. She was getting trippy visual distortions of everything, especially the mural on our wall and the Indian ("magic") carpet on the floor. At one stage she looked at the couch to her left and said "I've got a little friend, ooh, lots of friends!" She was seeing or spirit entities which she normally feels aware of. After she came down she got to work moving chairs out of the way of the mural so that we could view it properly.

My turn again, and this time we'd have 2 cones each. I had one, got stronger visual distortions in the real world, and after a couple of minutes went for the second cone. Strong visual distortions, especially with the linear nature of the planks of our house all around. It became much more multisensory, with touch, sound and vision all mixing up in a sensory mashup. Aztec geometric patterns in the darkness among the trees, awareness of the spirit of the Australian land (tied up with the name of the smoking blend - Dreamtime), electronic sounds heard in the spaces of the non-electronic music, very trippy and overwhelming, but fun and pleasurable at the same time. I was still in this world, but with a very shifted awareness. This lasted at least 10 minutes, with me rolling on the couch, enjoying the sensations of touch and trying to grasp visions and senses which were constantly shifting and inherently ungraspable.

Next up Astral Blitz again for a 2 cone experiment. Again, she reported much stronger visions and sensations. She told me there was a "friend" smiling at her in the kitchen, but once she said "there's another friend" it jumped out the window.

Friends who have smoked both Dreamtime and pure DMT have said that Dreamtime is much more pleasant, easygoing, less scary and overwhelming. Sufi Tootler said, "I thought I wanted sex, but then I realised that was longing for the Dreamtime experience!"

My readings of DMT reports lead me to believe that the effects from Dreamtime are definitely from DMT, and that if I went hard and had 3 or 4 cones I might well come through to the other dimension that people report from high-dose DMT trips. Shame I only have a little left.... I'm now trying to decide whether to have that in one go and just enjoy it, or do something wacky like combine it with salvia. Any reports on the combination of salvia and DMT?

salvia gave a place for the dmt to unfold itself out on to the back of my eyelids, with open eyes. I can't wait to try a higher dose

where does one get this dreamtime blend?I would say it's a uniquely Australian blend. Passiflora and Mullein are both native around the world, but I think the species of acacia with that magical active ingredient are mainly found in Australia.

I picked it up from a local herbal head shop, but like I said the supplier has ceased operations for at least the near future.

So you'll just have to come back to Oz Dopefiend ;)

OK, I've just checked with the person I obtained the Dreamtime Blend from and ascertained that it is Passionflower (Passiflora) and Mullein leaves soaked in a black wattle extract.

So there's nothing to stop a similar blend being made in Europe or America, albeit with a different source for the active ingredient extract.
