As mentioned in this other thread (http://www.thegrowreport.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=423&page=4), I decided to keep my eyes open for mushrooms.
When I came home today, I found these growing in some bark chips just on the inside the fence of my property (a small apartment block). There are pine trees growing nearby, but I found these growing close(r) to the path...
Do you think these are psychedelic mushrooms? I tried to do the bruise test, but can't see any sign of blue....
Sorry the photos aren't better - this is all my camera is capable of :(
Also, what is the best way to store them now? I've seen them stored in honey and in the freezer...?

Thank you :)
But don't worry, I'm going to get LOTS of opinions first!

If they dont stain blue they contain zero psyclobin, that really is a "safe" test. I recommend to only pick wild liberty caps- they are fairly easy to identify, but more importantly are fairly consistent on dosage. Most other mushrooms can vary greatly in their potency.

Oh well :(
Thanks everyone, it's my first time looking so I guess I was a little foolish to think I could just come home and find them growing (almost) on my door step!

I really don't think they are, sorry! Check out my thread (liberty caps on logs) and see what people said there, I had a similar question but I think mine were liberty caps, still kind of in the air. You should look for the distinctive nipple on the head, or also you can place a cap on a white piece of paper overnight and check to see if there is a purple spore print. I wouldn't eat those though.

BlackBeauty: its not foolish to think they'll practically grow on your doorstep, coz they prob do. Just got to tune into their frequencies. ;)

These are not hallucinogenic in any sense. Some animals can get by with eating them, but they're just likely to make you sick (very sick if you're small.) Very common variety of mushroom found round the world. Can't tell you the name though, since I'm missing my books after moving into my house about five years ago. I'll search and see if I can't find my 'Grob's Mushroom Field Guide.'
Best bet for finding them wild is to mill around a cow pasture (or sometimes a 'land race' pig pasture.) Grain fed or open graze Brahman cattle seem to be the best bet in springtime, but any cattle during warmer months will yield something.
I grew up working on my Grandpa's farm, totally ignorant of psychedelics, with these things all around me. Once I got into shrooms, I was absolutely shocked to find out that all of those mushrooms around me were what they were. What a waste! Now, no one in my family farms or raises livestock anymore. Hindsight is 20/20...sometimes 4/20. :o

To me they look much like grey ink caps, and if they are they contain an anta bus like substance and if you ingest them with alcohol you are in fore a very unpleasant experience. But it is impossible to safely identify mushrooms by only pictures and no other facts.
To safely identify mushrooms you must bye at least one good field guide. For the Psilocybin containing mushrooms I recommend Paul Stamets book Psilocybin mushrooms of the world.
And do bye one good local field guide and learn about the edible mushrooms and their look-alikes. I do enjoy the hunt for edible mushrooms every year from the summer to the frosts sets in, were you live the seasons is different and the species is probably not the same either. It is a rewarding hobby and a great reason to venture in to the woods and fields. Sadly this year was a poor year were I live, the mushroom season started early only to last a short wile, no yields to speak of. :(
Happy hunting :)

@Ostritt: thank you for the handy information - I checked out your liberty caps thread too and wish you all the best if you do decide to try them. the shrooms I collected definately don't have the 'distinctive nipple on the head', plus they have been sitting on white paper towel all night and there is no blue/purple spore print so I guess it's the bin for those!
@wegface: i'm gonna try and tune into the shroomery-frequencies!
@scaredstraight: many thanks - i will look out for a cow pasture although i live a few kilometres from the inner city so there is not much hope for that...BUT...! Down the road is a 'Children's Farm' which is unique as it is so close to the city! My other half also grew up a dairy farmer and although he does not partake in entheogens, I'm sure he would also have been surrounded by these little gems :)
@cereus: thanks, i got searching on EDIT, erowid and The Shroomery for more info on hunting mushies and more importantly, the typical strains that grow out here in Australia. In fact, it might not even be mushie season here as it's currently coming up to summer right now but I guess i'm trying to get in early before the dry season, bushfires and drought start!
