GROW IT! Most of my 40 yr old life I wanted to have weed like in the high times centerfold. All that time was spent smoking skag weed, praying before every purchase that the bag would be KILLER smoke, all to be disappointed. Then one time when $ were tight I did a little (very little) reading and decided "I'll grow my own" and not have to pay for crappy weed. I'd have my own crappy weed. It wasn't that hard. Actually not hard at all. Then time went by and I realized (the hard way most of the time) that the weed got better with the amount of effort and correct equipment I added. Still, very easy to do with simple instructions. Before you know it you could be listening to the Dopefiend talking about Purple Kush, and growing it the next week. You get out of it what you put in.

GROW IT YOURSELF!:)

Fuckin' eh right, cosmic funk! IMO there is no better high than great herb you grew yourself! It's fun too. :) In the words of Ed Rosenthal..."smoking weed isn't addictive, but growing it is".

There is so much information out there on the subject that it's tough to go totally wrong. We have mucho experienced folks like Zandor around who have already taken us from seed/clone to harvest using just about every method possible.

Grow on, people!

Nice one, I wouldn't smoke the herb if I had to buy it.

I'd love to start some day. Right now I'm paying 16 euro a gram! Trying to find a new dealer but the prices here are absurd in the extreme. I actually want to cry a bit every time I get one of those shitty bags. The dealer is a good mate though, touchy subject to bring up. Every time he gives throws me some weed to roll with I roll an absolute fatty though, so it kind of evens out. Kind of. :(

I'd like to get back into it too, even if just to grow 1-2 plants indoors but I don't have a closet or any equipment and don't have the time or money to buy any really... :(

well it does take a bit of money to start but not much for a small grow 1-2 plants. you could do a small cabinet grow with a 250 w hps. You don't have to buy all the pieces at once. just buy a piece at a time until you have enough to start. you will save so much $ in the end.

I recently made a grow cabinet out of an old TV entertainment center I found next to a dumpster. After a couple of slight modifications it now houses a 400w MH and I'm flowering with it now.

Not bad for FREE! (oh yeah the light was an old Hydrofarm that a friend had in his basement. Just had to make the ballast remote and add a cool tube. It was free too.)

So I paid:
100 for the cool tube
30 for a new bulb

1 for mylar emergency blanket
20 for computer fan for ventilation

Already had a powerful inline fan so it runs 2 cabinets.

I'll let you all in on a little secret. LEO isn't looking for grows, but if found will bust em'. So, if you grow keep it clean. No wild parties, domestic violence, ect. Don't deal if you have a grow either. Give em' no reason to suspect you and everything will be safe. Also, the less ppl that know about it the better.

Well that certainly was an eye-opener for me Cosmic Funk! Seems I must be more lazy than poor in that case....fantastic job with that setup of yours - I'll be looking out for something like that cabinet on the next hard rubbish drive.

Thank you for posting those pics!

Seeing this gives me hope. I thought that I would have to invest a ton to get things going. But guess it's more about elbow grease and innovation.

Elbow grease and innovation is right but there are pieces of equipment you MUST have such as security, good HID lights and the best ventilation you can afford, to name a few.

I saw in High Times were a guy had a grow going in a tall dresser. It appeared perfectly normal from the front. Makes you start looking at junked furniture a different way!

The cabinet you see below is much smaller (and cheaper) than my other. I use it for indicas because they won't grow too tall. My other is a Mills Pride C-24. I think it's the biggest they make.

Growing weed is a soul satisfying act of non violent civil disobedience IMO. I Love the feeling of self sufficiency. :)

It looks very nice Cosmic Funk!

Mylar rescue blanket $1! Growing buds in your own home, Priceless!!!

I was wondering, do you think that is enought headroom for your plants? i see you have them dropped down below the door but how much higher can you raise your light?

I only say that because i am having similar problems in my cabinet. I got some bushmaster today and applied it to stop my verticle growth because they are going for the ceiling in my cab. I used some bag seed for an equipment test run, who knows might be sativa!

Keep it up Cosmic!!!!

Can you not just bend the stems? or use string to hold the colas down? it will also help to get light to the lower buds, like LST but this is usually done late in flowering.

beginning to think i may have to do it aswell as ive got four of mandalas satoris and they are already about 3foot tall and are only 2 weeks into flowering:eek:

I can still raise my light in that mini cab some. I just use that cabinet for indicas so I haven't run into any real problems. And yes you can always LST your plants. With some strains LST'ing will increase your yield too. I do use Bushmaster on occasion but that stuff is so strong I try to use it very sparingly if at all.

Sorry I took so long to answer. I was on a forced hiatus from everything weed related due to a "test" I had to "study" for!;).

What strain are you running right now?

When I LST I will start training it as soon as I switch over to flower. If you wait late into flower it's too late to gain the benefits from it. If you LST right away the plant (depending on the strain) will develops fairly equal sized buds up and down the length of the main stem. This increases your yield and takes care of the height issues. You just have to keep tying it down in different places, sometimes every other day depending on how vigorous the plant is growing.

So are you using the inline to pull for both the dresser and the c24 can then? Any carbon scrubber or is the smell not a problem?

Hope you passed that test. The studying sounded harsh! :D

Right, I'm using a powerful inline to pull from both lights and then push out my carbon scrubber.

Yeah, passed with flying colors! Thanks!

Nobody's going to seize a house for a single light grow op in the US. Thank god it is not that bad yet.

I sure hope never to give reason for you to tell me "I to u so" on this one. I like sleepin indorrs also.

Here's an interesting article:

http://theoutlookonline.com/news/story.php?story_id=120434548612231900

But how is it a rental home can be turned into a pot factory without the landlord knowing?

“The law is, they can confiscate your property if it’s being used for drug operations,” said Phil Owen, president of the Rental Housing Association of Greater Portland. “Even if I didn’t know about it.”

He continued: “I don’t want the police to ever know that any drug activity is going on in my property, because even though I’m not involved with it, I’m still the one who financially has everything to lose.”

A few years ago, Owen said he spotted a pot plant in the window of a tenant and decided to inform police. In return he got a harsh letter saying his property was being used for illegal drug operations and it was subject to confiscation.

“From then on I just kept my mouth shut, and I evict people who I think have drugs,” Owen said.

Hey LenDog,

Thanks for the info. I read the artical, those are pretty big grows. You can assume that they are commercial in nature.

So far, I have not heard of anybody going to jail or losing a house for a one light setup. Especially for a house that has a mortgage. If the house has a mortgage, someone would have to sell the house to pay off the bank FIRST. A lot of cops are shit, that's just too much work just to make a point. They'll b happy 2 just throw yer ass in jail. And you don't expect the owner to put any effort in to selling the property cause he will not get any of the proceeds. If you think a bank will sit still while LEO steals their assets; well..... that aint happenin.

They will seize property if it is easy and there is somthing to be gained( I think LEO gets the money from seized property to use for its own operations). They'll take a landlords property if he owns it outright cause that is easy to do. No bank involved. And, they will seize property from a big op bcause they probably bought with cash and that is an easy score also.

I'm no expert here. If anyone has different info, please post.

I've never heard of a home based personal grow ever get caught for the grow alone. Either they told someone about it and it got around, or they brought attention to the home for another civil issue, and that was found by accident. It simply isn't worth the bad press for the police to break into the homes of otherwise good citizens and create news stories of breaking up families and ruining careers for a couple small plants that are obviously for personal use.

The time has come for me to grow too. In my ignorance I used to believe it was very hard to grow but since I've been doing serious research I now see that it isn't. I'm tired of handing over stupid amounts of money to dealers that only get shit (mostly soapbar). Because of this i haven't had a smoke in a few months, sobriety is nice but occasionally I want my medicine. Get this...I've never listened to a dopecast while stoned, crazy huh?

I was thinking of going for a lowrider grow for my first time. Lighting is the biggest issue for me, i don't want a big electric bill. I'm seeing good results with LEDs but they are too expensive and a pain in the ass to make yourself. I suck with a soldering iron.

My research continues but if anyone can suggest a good starting strain and an inexpensive lighting solution, let me know. Are the yeilds good with envirolights?

Just to let you know i just yielded 32g from one lowryder under a 200w envriolite, in a cupboard, little nutes, in a square pot with perlite, 2 weeks to show sex then another 7 or so flower.

Now, they look like some tasty looking buds! Made my mouth water. Sounds like the perfect simple set up for me, I guess I can move on to bigger and more varied set ups should the enthusiasm take me. was it a blue or red envirolight you used? I'm thinking of growing 4 plants, will i need 4 lights I wonder?
Nice grow!

thanks guys, they were still moist in the second picture so its probably down about 6g.

this was grown with a red envrolite all through the grow cycle, and only one plant. snapped the main cola and tied to stems up to do a little LST. worked well on getting the light to the lower buds.

heres how it looks now cured.
