This is going to be a historic day for the United States and the world. And this time I mean historic in a good way. A new era starts now.
Feel it, believe it. Because it is coming.

To look at the speaches last night was telling. McCain, in front of a crowd of angry, old, white, racist, hateful and fearful people. A mob as much as a crowd. Him having to calm them down. Their booing Obama's name. Him begging them to act like decent citizens and wish the new President well and pledge their support, to which they basically growled. I think McCain is glad he lost, unhappy with what the campaign had become, the last gasp of the white power movement and recognized that he was on the wrong side of history. It's one thing to want to be president. It's another to wake up and discover your campaign has been transformed into a KKK rally. I think McCain was ready to step off this crazy train.
Then Obama. Gracious in victory, no booing at the mention of McCain's name. Hopeful faces. Young faces. A diverse crowd. He's calling on them to respond "to the better angels of our nature," to quote Lincoln. He speaks of a shared commitment and a way to fix things and get the citizenry involved again. The contrast was sharp. Even if you knew nothing of the policies of each campaign, it is pretty clear which side represents the light and which is appealing to the darkness.
I'm no Democrat. I'm a Libertarian. But if you are stuck in a two-party system and one party strays as far from what they are supposed to be about then they need some time out of power. There's a level of incompetence that simply can not be rewarded. The Republicans needed some tough love and they sure got it.
I'm no progressive. If Obama simply lets his new enemies, the house and senate Democrats, ram through a lot of tax-and-spend and wealth-redistribution lawn they will be out of power in 4 years.
It's time to break the old paradigms. To have some new thinking and new solutions. It took Nixon to go to China. Only a Democrat like Clinton could destroy the welfare state. Obama has a historical opportunity to make some bold steps. I dream of a return to state's rights, and get the federal government back to doing a relative few things and doing them right.
The best thing is even the people who hate and fear Obama and would never vote for him still get the same quality human being as President as those who support him. Even people on the wrong side of history can benefit.

I'm officially so jealous of Obama's little girls. How cool, they get to live in the White House! They get a puppy and everything.
I'm just bursting with joy today, I must say, I had my doubts. On to a new era!

If you haven't seen Obamas victory speech, I suggest you do, 17mins, unscripted. Tell me it didn't bring a tear to your eye. I wish the USA all the best.

ROAR! :D
"Change have to come now...But change won't come now now now as we like to see. But we know, by what we see going on in the world, that change is near to come. Not far away anymore. That change is just around the corner."

I reject Zeke's negativity. Go rain on somebody else's parade.
The country deserves credit for what has happened here. If you don't see that you are blinded by your own cynicism.

Hey man, all I'm saying is that we still need to get the car and Marvin's body to the junkyard.

It was a great speech and some of it touched my soul. He is a true politician. Hopefully one that can really facilitate the change that a lot of us want. However, he is still a part of the government and their track record isn't the greatest. Will he alter the pattern of the last 60 years? I pray for it but am definitely not sucking any dicks!!!
Also, to rant for a moment, I get so annoyed with the whole "American Heroes" and Patriotism bullshit. I get that many people are so blinded by their love for their country because they get to drive huge trucks and SUVs with their gun racks in the back window, making fun of tree huggers and organic food, but for fucks sake!(I live in the country with alot of rednecks.)
I feel lucky to live in this country for various reasons but everytime I hear "America is the greatest country in the world" and all that other nonsense it makes me cringe being so egotistical. It might have been founded on principles that would help it to achieve that title, oh wait, SLAVERY built america, and close to half of the popular vote was for the beady eyed, lizard faced McCain. Well hopefully we really are evolving as a country and this is a positive sign!!!!!
