I haven't seen much talk on the Vapir One vaporizer so I thought i'd throw my 2 cents in.
After a few Dopecasts, I realized I had to get a vaporizer. Unfortunately, I didn't do much homework beforehand and ended up letting the guy at the headshop talk me into the Vapir One. He said it was VERY popular. It was the only one they had that you could toke straight from or fill bags. When I got it home and fired it up, I connected the mouthpiece and took a few hits...wasn't bad. I enjoyed the taste much better than smoking it.

I later tried to fill a bag and that's when things turned bad. As soon as i pushed the hose into the bag, vapor started pouring out from the Vapir chamber...it was leaking all over the place. I assume the bag restricted the flow of air enough to push it all out through the cartridge chamber since that had less resistance.

I searched the Internet and found that this was (and always has been) a big problem for the Vapir vaporizers. I found a few sites that discuss taping up the thing to keep it from leaking. I tried that and it worked pretty well. Doesn't visibily leak at all anymore and the bag filled nicely.

Hopefully, someone who is about to purchase a vaporizer will read this and make a wiser choice. It looks like the HerbalAire is about the same price as the Vapir, and probably a much better choice if you can't afford a Volcano. I have heard nothing but bad things about the Vapir. I wish i would have done a little more research before wasting $225 on the Vapir.

I've talked extensively on the Dopecast about how horrendous the Vapir One is.

Not only does it leak,

not only is it over-priced,

not only is the temperature control totally unreliable,

not only does the heat sometimes rocket, setting all your herbs on fire and flooding the room with thick, dark smoke,

not only does the fan make a horrible whining noise,

not only does the fan often break,

not only is the bag system fiddly and impractical,

not only is it horribly inefficient,

but the plastics and silicone used to construct the body and the mouthpiece have not been tested for safety or carcinogens, so it could actually be harmful as well as useless.

I know you have talked a lot about it...but i didn't get to hear those until after i already bought it. Believe me I certainly would not have made that purchase if i had heard your views first. I really enjoy the dopecast and deeply respect your opinions. I'm trying to convince the wife to purchase a Volcano, but since this whole allergy thing, she is not about to let me spend that much when she won't be able to reap the benefits.

If you are in the states go to BC or Toronto and try them out at the vapor lounges.
