and the fact that nobody every uses it, and that the bowl is filled with iso alchohol, and i always have h202 in the tank

also i rub the whole room down walls ceiling and all with bleach then when that dries, i spray it with lysol, i wet the fucking whole bathroom down with the shit, all the whil i have my fucking heppa filter system right outside the door

my ac is an american standard brand new with electrostatic filters

and when the whole shit is done i have a fucking plasma/charcoal/heppa filter that i have in a bathroom that i repeat no one ever uses, cause no one comes over

i wipe the whole room down with iso alchohol

consists of a wbs spawn(2 pint jars, i would use more if i had more) lightly soaked in a hot bath of pickling lime infused mineral water

garnished with a squirt of honey/karo/yeast lc

served on a bed of 1/3 (4 quart jars)earthworm castings pasturized to perfection

1/3 (4 quart jars)pickling lime soaked julienned wheat straw ( first i cut it into two inch pieces then i put it in a food processor then i put it in my coffee grinder) also pasturized to perfection

and a 1/3 (4 quart jars)mixture of the most succulent medium grade vermiculite, and the fluffiest coco coir on the market ( about 70 percent verm 30 percent coir) also pasturized to perfection


normally i would just mix the spawn (wbs) with the bulk sub(straw castings verm coir) but being that i really only had about a pint of spawn (cause my pint jars are half full so i can shake them)

i decided to layer the spawn

first i lay down dry pasturized verm to absorb any excess moisture that might pool at the bottom causing an infection

then i would mix one quart of each(straw, castings, coco/verm mix) and l would lay it down in my tub which has a liner , ill make a post on how i make my liners and why later,

then i sprinkle the lightest bit of wbs as evenly as possible, i wanna use half the jar, since i have two jars of spawn and four jars each of sub so every four jars of sub i layed down i would sprinkle a half jar of sub

honestly

ive noticed that brown rice flower cakes really give wbs a run for their money when you break them up and spawn to bulk

cause thier smaller particle size allows the myc to be spread out better

or so i think ive noticed, this next monotub im gonna do is gonna have citiwans and i used brf cakes as my spawn

And that reminded me of the only time I've seen my own projects do that, which was using cakes birthed inside bonne maman jars (to facilitate "edge" pinning action). Sometimes I forget that the stuff inside my head is, like, inside my head :o:o:o

Wow Lucy, those are incredible pics! I've only grown cubensis before, so I never made it past the training-wheels stage. You must have some mouldy thumb...(blue-green thumb? fungal thumb?) How many different species do you cultivate?
Do the 'shrooms do anything for the Chrons? I have a friend who suffers horribly...last time we spoke they had her on belladona and opium, which sounds like fun once in a while but basically turned her into a houseplant at the dosages required to give her any relief. Good luck to you with that, sounds horrible.

That tek looks pretty bad ass, although I don't think an incubator is necessary. Colonizing at normal room temperature is just fine. Also, if you do not own a pressure cooker, you can steam sterilize your jars in a large pot with a tight fitting lid for 90 minutes.

I'd like to recommend these four videos, which are part of a DVD called "Let's Grow Mushrooms!" which describes the PF TEK, steam sterilization, inoculation and fruiting chamber construction. They're way good, enjoy!

personally i believe there is a huge difference between buying brown rice flower and making your own brown rice flower with a coffe grinder

i think the coarser grind adds more air pockets which equal growing space for the mycelium

2cups coarse brown rice flower

4 cups vermiculite

1/2 tsp nutritional yeast

1 tsp kelp seed meal

1 tsp bea pollen

1 tsp blue corn meal

now when it comes to hydrating your medium

fuck the instructions

the best way to do it is separate a portion of the mixture

and keep trying till you get the right feel

they say to add water till only like one or two drops come out only

i think thats too much water

you want like a little before that

so you should play around with it a little till you know how it feels in your hand

thats the best way to determine the water content ultimately

youll know its perfect

just think of clouds and fluffyness and youll get it

like basically

cooking whole brown rice with less than the reccomended ammount of water and getting a pint jar lay half an inch of the cooked rice then sprinkling a little bit of shit, then another half inch of rice then more shit like that

when innoculating jars, i get a little piec of sponge ,( the denser car wash sponges are the best) dip it in alchohole and put it on top of the innoculation holes so the needle must pass throught the alchohol to get to the hole

also i get a shot glas and pack a chunk of sponge in there and fill it with alcohol, i stich the needle in there between innoculations, also before itake the needle out of the sponge i squirt a little bit of it out

MICROPORE TAPE

also know as gentle paper tape by 3m

Here's what i got:

Exoterra heat pad for reptiles. it's under a glass table top, and i was gonna put a seed propagator on top of it to maintain a heat...I can hold 80 degs F in there, or less by putting foam under the prop.

I got heaps of BRF. A ton and a half of medium vermiculite that we're using as an eco friendly insulator in the roof along with foam.

Got a gigantic pressure cooker.

Got a 10ml cambo syringe loaded and ready to roll.

Goin to a grow shop tomorrow for some weed supplies, and gonna pick up two big ass tub things and an aquarium heater with thermostat.

Not sure about airflow...I can a mister from the pet store and run that into the fruiting chamber to help gas exchange (is that necessary?).

Need to get coir...Those coffee grounds, is that like the stuff you put in the water, or is it the spent stuff once you've drank the coffee?

do you use an electric grinder to do this? Ive always used pre-ground BRF which is super-fine, can you recommend a brand of coffee grinder?

the type of grinder you need are the small ones you usually find in flee markets yard sales and thrift stores

braun, black and decker(thats mine) and all those other sears home good brands

personally , i have this theory called soft heat, which is,

i dont like to heat the container or even put a piece of styrofoam between the containers

cause then all the styrofoam gets hot,

what i do, is i place a 1 inch tall wire rack above the heating mat

therfore, im just heating the air directly below the the fc, which adds like a gentle heat, which can always be left on

i love cambos, they need more humidity and more fae

sounds like a fucking impossibility, how do you build up the humidity all the while haveing alot more fae that you would for cubies

well just put the seedling mat under your humidity device, look up tropicaire and make a device just like that all on your own, and place a heating mat under it

i never turn off my tropicaire, some ppl say to run it once every hour , fuck that shit

wheres your poo for the cambos, your gonna need them, although brf cakes alone will suffice hell the poo is what makes cambos the best they can be

hell ya i love canna coir, its ready to use outta the bag, no soaking no hydrating, thats all i use for my shrooms(kinda shitty for weed imho but great for shrooms)

keep it away from your mycology area though, you must always remember that since coco is mainly used as a grow medium alot of companies pre load the coco with trichoderma which is beneficial for roots but horrible for shrooms

are you spawning the cakes to poo?

i would assume that since your useing cambos

if you do , dont get the mister,

i find that coco, gets dry way faster than vermiculite, so i use coco in the sub, but only vermiculite as a casing

i wouldnt open my tubs at all if possible, and i dont recomend spraying for your casings unless your sure its way to dry

really easy to fuck up the moisture content and cause massive aborts

if your doing cakes i guess spray away, but the more times you open your fc the more chances you have of infecting your crop

get clear plastic tubing, and alot of it, like the ones for oxygen tanks or asthma machins
make sure they are the ones with the ridges on the inside so they wont stop flowing when you bend them

that shit right there is every mycologists essential too

you use that tubing for everything hehehehehehe
