250 Watt Envirolite Out Of Production

Hello! This might be of use to those planning an Envirolite powered grow and I got it from my internet supplier, but the 250W Envirolites are being redesigned and are now out of stock everywhere.

The local hydro store all so stopped selling this brand at all watts because the company was so badly unreliable. Here is the thing from Envirolites.

"We are aware there is considerable interest in the 250 watt lamps and that many of you are awaiting an ETA on this popular product. The 250 watt was originally launched on a trial basis. We are currently upgrading the circuit board and improving the efficiency and performance of the lamp. This is so we can maintain the high standard and quality associated with the Envirolite brand. We apologise for any inconvenience
caused and expect to re-launch the brand new 250 watt at the end of
2008"

This seems to corroborate what a bloke at a reputable grow shop told me, probably a couple of years ago. He advised me that these lights are often troublesome, and he gets a good number returned as faulty. He also said that over time (sometimes a relatively short time - depending on running temps and lack of adequate ventilation etc) the plastic bodies become brittle and cracked too.
I suppose it's a case of weighing up pros and cons. They suit some people's situations, and not others.
Glad to hear there's an improved design on the way.

can someone please conform that it is JUST the 250W? and the 125W ones are ok?

Hello PotHead! Yes the seller that I got mine from advised the 250W lamps were made in a diffrent factory all together and the 125W and 200W lamps are in full supply.

I can give you the infomation for the seller I use if you have problems.
