Preserving fresh mushrooms

Hi guys, I was wondering if there was somebody who could give me some tips and ideas for storing any fresh mushrooms I find?

Also, is this mulch colonised? I'll be interested to see what pops up.

How should I prepare these for storage? I've heard heat kills the potency.
