Does Butane negate the benefits of the VaporGenie?

Hey all

On a lighter note...

Does lighter butane negate the health effects of a VaporGenie. I was considering spending my B-day cash on one, but have heard butane is a real hazard to the lungs.

I realize that is not the case with the Volcano or Herbalaire, but I will need a real cash infusion, and the kids be out of the house for good (both go hand-in-hand?;)) before I can see myself with one of those.

What are you using to smoke now? If you used a bic lighter to smoke a joint or from glass, then you can use the bic for the vaporgenie. I don't think that you need any more flame for the 'genie.

If you are really worried then try matches, they work just as well for me. (As long as it is not windy.)

if you really get the vaporgenie technique right, you shouldn't be inhaling any butane vapour because you heat the stone bfore inhaling

use a bic or disposable lighter because the heat from a blue flame is too concentrated for the heating element on the vapor gene will be uneven and not properly vape your bud.

Truth be told butane is a clean burning product but isn't very practical for most smoking. doing hot knifes with hash or budder is the only practical thing when using butane or making hash oil but I don't recommend it unless your a pro. even then I've seen pros light themselves on fire.

Like it was said if your so worried about it go get some red bird wood matches wait a few seconds till the match is lit (the chemicals for the red tip will be burned off) then in hail.

I was imagining that I would need to suck the flame down into the Genie at a constant rate to heat the stone, thus taking massive draws of potentially unused butane (from a bic or otherwise). I guess I'll need to read up on techniques.

I currently draw on a regular metal screw-together pipe or glass one-hitter with a bic style of lighter, trying only to get the smoke started to take in as little butane as I can. I feel joints are a waste of smoke for one person. I recently read a lot THC is dissapated in the water of a bong.
