Hello! So now I have 4 out of 5 seeds almost ready to be planted, and the 5 is showing signs of bulge and split.

Last time I used the potting compost for seeds and found the drainage bad, real bad and the soil came congested and bad for roots.

This time I have extra drainage holes ready, but wanted to now if I can use my Bio Bizz All Mix soil for the seeds. Now this soil comes with 1l of ferts per 19l of soil.

I can get some perlite to add to the soil to cool it down for the seeds. I was going to have say 20% Perlite with 80% soil. Would this be ok? Thank you :)

I nipped in to my local hydro store to chat with the guy there, and he said why not just use jiffy pelletts until they are sprouted. I thought yeah why not? So I bought some which were like 40p a pop. He also gave me 2 free more then I need so i can practice and get it right :)

Go back and listen to show 65 again, I used jiffy pellets to sprout the seedlings and show 69 when you are ready to take them out of the jiffy pellets I show you how to remove them in a clean and easy manor.

Jiffy pellets are one of my favorite ways to sprout seeds.

Happy growing

Peace

I've found that jiffy pellets are the best by far... so simple to use and I seem to be able to root in them 100% of the time. Just have to make sure that you don't oversoak and squeeze a bit of the excess water out of them.

Thanks guys, the pellets are working out real well The seeds broke surface tuesday morning and all 4 have second set of leaves mostly out now.

Freaked to see roots stated to poke out the side yesterday but they seem ok after i pulled the mesh stuff back over the roots and I keep them moist to.

I want to try cloning this time to and will use these for that I think :)

Thank you Z I did, and that sounds really simple! Yes I think these pellets will be used again and again.

Glad things are going well man, don't worry about those roots. They'll make their way through the jiffy mesh no problem.

As for cloning with jiffys, I've had great success using 'gel4plugs' as a rooting stimulator which I picked up at the local shop.

Cheers Drum Bum! I will look for that brand when the time comes. I was going toward Clonex but seems that gel4plugs is for the pellets, sounds good!

The transplanting went very well and the plants are now thriveing in the All Mix soil after the peat pellets. I think that I might have disturbed the root ball to much on one as the pellet split open to much. This plant grew slower for the first couple fo days. Good now though.

Good to hear things are going well mate... was that split pellet the one that you ripped the netting on by any chance?

Good now though.
Great to hear :)

I germinate seeds in water (1 gal water, 25ml H2O2, 1 drop super thrive, pH 5.8), then transplant the
bare roots seedlings into a soilless mix. The process takes 4-5 days. (Picture: Sour Diesel seedlings.)

Yes DrumBum I took off the netting on all the pellets as I wanted them roots to have no obstructions at all. I think it was my clumsyness on that pellet because the others were fine though I gripped this one to much I think :o

First class infomation sttony :) For germing I have a reptile heat mat that is mounted under a glass table cover and I use an old Q-Tip lid padded with non-bleached tissue paper and moisten. Then fold another few layers of tissue over and then cover with a side plate. The heating under the lid makes the evaporation and the plate acts to dome in the humidity.

These seeds all popped after a day for 3 and 2 days for the thrid. Next time I will use my waterproof thermo tobetter regulate the temp in there but it is so easy to do this way. I am going to give a go of cloning this grow though  ;)
