Oh fantastic karma folks.
1. I find there is a fully equipped, stocked, seed-selling shop in my local town.
2. My wonderful wife, (non-smoker) whispered in my ear yesterday..."do you want some lights for your birthday to grow inside during the winter?"
Since I managed to either poison or fry my last attempt, my love for this woman cannot get any deeper.
Shall make the guy at the shop a blood-brother and be back for advice.

"How many ways can I say I love you?" well....
1. Afrikaans - Ek is lief vir jou
Good one Pothead!
Although, for the sake of being pedantic, "I love you" in Afrikaans is actually "Ek het jou lief". Which directly translated means "I did have your love"! Absolutely ridiculous and I've never understood why they say it like this but they do. Strange!

You better not forget to have her some flowers delivered! She's a keeper, and good luck with your grow. Can't wait to hear what seeds you went with and how your going to set up.
Hasta luego!

Thanks a lot for the support folks.
I haven't yet been into the shop, but I will when I get time.
First snag, all the products - nutrients, soils etc are from the european market, so will need some help with them.
Am listening to TGW on my ipod..again, just finishing #41.
Should be ready to go shopping later next week.
Will have to break to the wife that it'll take more than lights to produce indoors, but if I mention we can grow tomatoes, lettuce etal, should be ok.
Thanks again
MC...(Oh...GREAT music Mr Z, I grew up in Pete Townsend's home town so looove The Who!!!)

Greetings oh Gurus Verde,
right.
Had a peek in the window - during lunchtime - shop closed!
Saw some products labelled "Dutch Passio" & Canna.
I'm sure I've heard of these before - any ideas team?
This is a two-point question.
Be lucky

Indoor garden our outdoor garden?
Also, don't go too far off the deep end with equipment until you know you like the hobby. I reccomend you start in the dirt, under say a 400 or 600 watt HPS. You'll need to rig up a smaller area with ust floresent lights for srouting the seedlings and getting them started, and then the HPS light for some veg stage and of course flowering. If you are going to go with dirt (lots to learn in general before learning a hydro system that you can always add later) I'd say to go with either the fox farm or Pure Blend Pro lines. Just grab a bottle of grow and a bottle of bloom. this will get you pretty far into your grow while you read up on the others.
You also need to think about the strains you want to grow as that will have an impact as well.
And of course, ask lots of questions, we are all happy to help

Thanks for that Oldbay,
I'm going through the old podcasts, and have discovered one problem.
The area I'm going to grow in doesn't have any heat or insulation and will get pretty cold in the winter.
It's normal in Spain that in the villages there isn't much insulation in the houses, because it's only cold for 2 or 3 months.
Any ideas how to heat the area where the plants will be growing - I'm going to start with two or three, to get the hang of a complete grow.
Thinking of trying "white Dwarf", autoflowering in 65 days.
Regards
MC

Depends on how big the space is but here are a few tips I can think of.
First keep the plants off the ground. Even a few inches makes a big difference for the roots to keep a bit warmer.
Do the light cycle during the colder nights.
If it is just a few plants or a smaller space, you can throw a seedling mat under it. (the kind you plug in like a heating pad, but waterproof)

A small electric room heater works too, people use them up here when it snows during the day light hours and run their lights in the dark when it's the coldest.
Just an idea.

First, thanks to El Z for however he fixed my access problems - now it works.
I'll try that tip about the heating mat, I'm just gonna try one or two grows over our winter, cos by March, it should be warm enough to start putting things outside.
My wonderful other half is probably not going to tolerate a large expenditure on inside equipment when I can grow outdoors between March and early November.
Yesterday was sunny and 30º C.
I have to wait a week for family reasons before I visit this local store and have one brave little plant that has resisted all my attempts to kilkl it.
It has Bonsaied I think.
Just for the sake of familiarising myself with flowering etc - even if it means ending up with one g of bud, anyone want to give a tip - it looks healthy but very, very, small. It's been growing for 10 weeks. Oh, on Monday it rained, and it doubled in size overnight to about 5 inches.
Just for the practice, any suggestions, apart from starting again with good soil , water and a ph meter?
Thanks
MC
