A month ago I bought some seeds to grow in the aerogarden( as seen on tv). aerogarden looks to be a pretty good unit especialy to learn on. i ordered 5 fem seeds of BUDDHA SEEDS WHITE DWARF FEMINIZED. i went with this strain due to the max height of the light in the aerogarden. anybody heard anything about this strain?
They tossed in 5 other seeds for free, G13 Labs Power Skunk
is the name of that 1, any info on this strain? as far as i can tell from googles is that a strain with same name grows to at least 110 cm and that may be too high for my unit, any advice?
Have yet to buy the light, am driving to the wormsway ( the nearest indoor growing store). I hope to find the aerogarden or somthing like it there. i am a little bit nervous of what questions to ask so that i get what i want and dont pay to much to get it.
i guess i am hoping replies to this thread might help me find a grow system in a$400 range. aero garden is listed at 379 or 399 with food and directions, as well as seeeds for tomatoes.
once i get a light/system i am happy with i will be able to germinate.........

Hope this isn't late, but congrats on starting your grow. I would bet that your free beans would be similar in description to what you find for like a super skunk.
Look into some training methods if you are going to go with the aero garden.
As far as 400 bucks for start up cash (that is actually a lot to have as startup funds for a any new hobby really), the main three things you want will be the light (maybe a 400 or 600 hps if you have that kind of space, the 400watt hps is still small enough for a larger cabinet grow or tent), the inline fan (possibly with a speed controller if noise is an issue) and the carbon scrubber. You can start with soil for cheap, but those are a must. I would get the cooled hood model light if available for the package. That kind of start up goes well past the size of things you would look to find with an aero garden.

nah ur not late at all, thanks for posting.
i think i am going to go with an ebb and flow system, hydroponics. i am curious tho you suggest 1 hps light. dont i need both colors? red and blue i think, i listened to a coulple pod casts i think i heard that in there. MH bulbs as well as HPS?
as for the fan and scrubber you mentioned. that sounds like somthing i am sure i will need. i was planning on using 1 or 2 computer fans but not married to that. i know nothing about scrubbers. would i find them at any local stores? What would i be looking for, carbon scrubbers?
thanks dude
Looked on wormsway and saw this light here is the link whatya think

You'll need to figure out what your garden will look like once your ready to go. It sounds like the table top aero unit is out then? Maybe for the best as it really is pushing the small side.
The MH light is in a more ideal range for the vegitation stage then the HPS, however the HPS is what you are after for the flower stage. Just starting out you may want to make do with just one light (pricewise). A large percentage of personal growers go with just the HPS from seedling throgh grave with the exception of a floro area for seedlings/clones/moms.
Your fan and scrubber will be based on your light size. If you want to go to a 400/600 or even a 1000 watt light, a computer fan won't do it for you. You will buy an inline fan such as a vortex.
Odor control will depend on the size of the grow. A handful of square feet may be best to set up in a cabinet with say a 400 watt, a 4 (or 6) inch inline fan with the appropriate sized can filter or a Zandor style DIY carbon filter.
It isn't a science, but you base your light on the amount of square feet your floor space is. You want to be in the range of 50 watts per square feet. So a 3' by 3' area would for example be 9 square feet. So with a 400 watt light you would get just over 44 watts per square foot. Not bad and you could add supplemental lighting as well if the temps stay under control.
I have no experience with larger or partial room sized grows or with hydroponic growing, but the same principles would apply.
When figuring out garden size you also need to consider the laws in your area and what your medical legal plant count is, and if there is no law yet, there may be a tipping point for felony and or mandatory minimum penalties. Obviously you don't want to push your luck and want to stay as legal as possible.
As far as needed yield, an ambitious goal is a (dried) gram per watt at harvest. For the first run you will likely be below this mark by quite a bit. figure maybe .3 grams per watt, and maybe you'll do much better.
