The riots got pretty intense at some points, we were watching from Esse's living room window, a little close for comfort when the bottles started flying! The footage in Larz's vid was taken VERY close to Esse's place.

i wouldnt be suprised if some faction within our government or police force instigated these riots much the same as they did with the minors strike ..the government surely view notting hill carnival as a major security threat to london and would probably like to see it stopped and what better way than make out its unsafe and that terrorists or gangs or whoever can disrupt london on such a large scale ..or is it an excuse for the police to call for bigger budgets in their fight against crime (to me that sounds like a line from batman )

or is it simply a bunch of twats out to ruin peoples fun times


by the way ive been in a few riots ,ranging from 40-50 people fighting up to over a thousand and trust me rioting is not pleasant in any way shape or form ...especially when your an innocent bystander caught up n the middle ..to say that its exiting is downright absurd ...when youve been hit with night sticks ,bottles and bricks been set upon by numerous police officers for doing nothing other than trying to find a safe haven away from trouble then tell me its exciting ...downright frightening is what it is ,and no stoner should ever be put in that position ...i hope you never get to experience the full force of the law in this manner ...im glad all grow report members were safe throughout this debacle

Unfortunately it's a recently emerging trend from what I've seen. More and more I see people filling forums and comments boards of all interests with that sort of crap. When challenged they claim their right to free speech.

I've been watching it for a while and I don't like it but there does seem to be a whole new resurgence of people embracing the extreme right wing viewpoint in the UK.

It saddens me. They just don't want to listen. Black white muslim gypsy whatever are just cultural labels. Try to tell them that culture isn't their friend, and that by choosing labels to hate they are just being slaves and zombies told what to think by others and you are dismissed as a namby-pamby, a hand-wringer, a tofu-knitter, a do-gooder, and the most hated of all: a liberal-lefty. How is doing good (as in do-gooder) a bad thing?!

Hell, I'm apolitical and I was even told I'd be showing up on "red-watch" (a website that exists to name, shame and point out where the lefties are so they can be "dealt some summary justice")

The ethnicity of the rioters and causes of the riot itself are irrelevant. It could have been the Womens Institute or the Rotarians that started it, it doesn't matter. For those people Notting Hill Carnival will always equal crazy lawless niggers going apeshit with drugs, crime and violence.

I know it's scary and people get hurt, even killed, that really sucks, but I still can't help fucking loving chaos, a part of me wants to see every city in the world on fire, a part of me wants a true archaic revival, I mean really back to the trees, fuck it all, if you want to make an omelette you have to break a few eggs. Speaking of WTO Riots in Seattle. I had and acquaintance who is a film maker and he was driving around video taping the riots. A SWAT Team Member came up to the window of the vehicle without saying anything and pepper sprayed the cameraman and others in the car.

Also I was in a non-violent protest of the Iraq War in Portland, Or a couple of years ago, and of course, the cops, not the protesters, got VIOLENT!!!

Be prepared for the Police State is all I can say!
