I'm in two minds about Gong......Angel's egg is (mostly) great as is You...but some of their other stuff can annoy me at times. Have to be in the right mood I'm afraid.:o

planetgong.com i agree some gong isnt appropriate at times but it depends on the era / band members. good to know people know of them though. i had never heard anything like em before. if you like odd time signatures and general crazyness there worth a go. my friends just dont get it-same with zappa.

If you like odd time signatures and quirkiness hunt down some Cardiacs. Think you may like them.......They are even more off the wall and again...some of their stuff I love, some of their stuff I don't.

Glad you like the Cardiacs......another band you may like (although not as far out) is Here and Now.....I believe they were David Aellens backing band on the Gong Floating anarchy album.......there are similarities in styles.
Another band that I would recommend is Soft Machine...especially volumes 1 and 2 (on the same cd)......David Aellen used to be in them before this release. Apologies if I have not spelt his name right I know he has an extra e or a in there somewhere!!!

Well, I just did a search across my hard drives for Gong tracks...I have Angel's Egg which I very much enjoy, and that's it! How strange, I was convinced I had more Gong.

Getting slammed into the Ozric's again recently...

Gong is one of my favourite bands, radio gnome, and zero the hero (the dmt track). And Ozric tentacles and early Pink Floyd.
