It's the middle of summer here Down Under and BB's Bungalow heats up with this Christmas & New Year's special!

Join us for a bumper episode of BB's Bungalow (our biggest yet!) and get festively blazed while we rock to some new music from all over the world and laugh along with some Christmas comedy. We'll also get an educational lesson as we learn what 'ganja' is known as in other parts of the world.

This month at the Bungalow we've got not 1 - but 2 guests in for a chat!
The first is a listener to the Dopefiend network and regular contributor to the GrowReport.com forums: Tirikite Toker. We are lucky enough to have Tirikite Toker join us at the Bungalow with the sweet, hypnotic sounds of his beautiful Tabla instrument.

Great show BB, I found it very entertaining and hearing a n2o session brought back some funny memories. I couldn't help but lol in my car. One thing that concerns me is the bit on Poppy seed tea. In case you & your guests were unaware, its like playing Russian roulette with Morphine. The morphine content of poppy seeds vary greatly based on the type of seed, harvest time, growing conditions, etc. There really is no way to know, until you are consuming it. Poppy seeds sold in bulk for food purposes are not controlled for the amount of opiates in them, but rather for their flavor and appearance. When you make an infusion from these seeds, there is no telling how much opiates your solution will contain. Most experienced Poppy (pods or seeds) tea drinkers know to slowly sip their tea and gage their intake based on the effects they are achieving over an hour or so. Even these experienced users make mistakes, especially with Poppy seed tea. Inexperienced users can easily make a lethal error with their dose. I hate to be a party pooper, but I would hate even more for some listeners to hear about poppy tea on the Bungalow, race off to try it with no idea it can be dangerous and end up dead. So before anyone attempts to make Poppy seed tea, I highly encourage you to visit poppyseedtea.com (http://poppyseedtea.com/) and let all the info there sink in real good. While yes the tea can get you high, it can kill you. Be careful guys!

Apparently, cold water extraction of a paracetamol/codeine mixture should leave a clear liquid after filtration. But, it does take longer to filter than aspirin/codeine which has a more cloudy post-filtration appearence. Lovely buzz, but the itch can be a bugger at higher doses, so have some anti-histamines on hand. Finally, watch out for the brands containing caffeine...ruins the stone and keeps you awake.

Of course, this is all academic! ;)

Wise words Erocx1. You're absolutely right about taking care with poppyseed tea, or any any drug for that matter. The information provided was anecdotal of course, but it is hoped that people do research before attempting anything unusual. I was aware of the website poppyseedtea.com, but it is worth noting that that particular individual did ingest tea made from 3lbs of poppy seeds. I find it difficult to understand the sheer logistics of making tea from that many seeds! My first attempts were with 200g of seed or less and I have never used more than 500g of seed at once.

Nevertheless, the variation from brand to brand (or even from batch to batch of the same brand) can be absolutely huge and you were right to point that out. It's worth noting as well that same strains of poppy are bred to have a high thebaine (a chemical used to synthesise other drugs such as oxycodone) count rather than a high morphine count and this can make for an unpleasant, nausea filled experience. It's luck of the draw really.

I don't want to hijack this thread with instructions on how to get high as that was never my intention, but if one wanted to know more about poppyseed tea, there is a ridiculous amount of information about it on the internet which would be very easy to find.

Wise words EROCx1. Glad to help BB and Tortoise. I just wanted to point the potential risks to bring a sense of caution to anyone who may want to give this a shot. Many people under estimate "legal" drugs and automatically assume they need more then the commonly discussed dosage. I posted that immediately after listening to episode 4 and didn't have time for a well thought out reply.

Some of the other major factors which effect potency are if the seeds have been "washed" or "treated" which many distributors are now doing. Most government agencies demand growers "do everything in their power to reduce the levels of all pharmacological active opium alkaloids to the technologically feasible minimum level." Simply washing the poppy seeds with hot h2o reduces the morphine content up to 70%. Some growers use low potency poppy strains (what a sin). Last but not least is how the grower removes the seeds from the pods. Dry, smash & sift leaves the most opium on the seeds.

With all these variables and those previously mentioned, it is easy to see how cups of tea do very greatly. Most will be weak, but some can be surprisingly high (if you find a be surprisingly high source, please do share :cool:

Just use caution, consume slowly (over an hour) and learn to bio-assay & gage the effects before consuming more. Don't just down a batch. Pods are a safer route then seeds, however they do cost more.

Loved the show BB. Enjoyed the part about the N2O. When I was a teen, I bought a mostly full 80lb tank of it at a Dead show (the kind that are as tall as you) and the weeks that followed were crazy times.
