Hey ya'll...quick question:
I have a 4x4x7 grow tent with a 600w HID/Cool tube attached to a 6" CanFan with ducting on each end of the tube (cool air in/exhaust). Temps and humid is great; however, I'd like to increase the fresh air intake a bit.
Is there any reason why I should not disconnect the intake ducting and pull air into the tent by creating a draw from the passive venting in the tent? It seems reasonable, but maybe I'm missing something.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Best,
Steel

Well...I experimented and the result is that removing the ducting from one end of the cool tube exhausts too much out of the environment and lowers the humidity to approx 20%. I'm just gonna add a smaller fan for air intake.

low humidity is not a problem IMO. growboxes are often cramped with growth and it gets even more dense if you scrog it. mould can be your worst enemy in a crowded growbox so to keep your humidity on the low side is a good idea anyway. and to have a consistent exchange of air in the growspace is crucial as you know so you need both an intake and exhaust independant of your cooltube setup if its not sucking air from the growspace.
often the ventilation setup is designed around a carbon filter, however this doesn't seem to be an issue for you.
anyway if you need smell protection the way I would set it up is have one fan pulling air through the cooltube and make sure the intake to the cooltube is outside the growspace, then have a 2nd fan extracting air from the growspace through a carbon filter. The intake to the growspace can be passive, but internal air circulation is good and I find an easy space saving solution is to have a small intake fan positioned so it also doubles as an internal air circulation fan.
but yeah I'd much rather low humidity than high humidity in the growspace.
