Does anyone else enjoy quality beers? Here's a brief list of some of my favorite companies:
Terrapin
-Rye Pale Ale
-Classic Ale
Flying Dog
-Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale
-Road Dog Porter
-Tire Bite Golden Ale
-Snake Dog IPA
Barney Flats
-Oatmeal Stout
Kronenbourg 1664
Harpoon Brewery
-UFO Hefeweizen
Omara's
-Irish Stout
Rogue
-Mocha Porter
-Dead Guy Ale
Redhook
-ESB
-Long Hammer IPA
There are plenty more I've forgotten. I was hoping for some suggestions from fellow networkers. Perhaps some more varieties in addition to ales? I'm a big fan of lagers but haven't found many I'm all that fond of.

All my top picks are from Aussie micro-brewers. I'm told we have a very good selection of beers from the more boutique breweries here in Australia. Here's a couple of my must-haves:
Coopers
- Sparkling
Boags
- Draught
Matilda Bay
- Bohemian Pilsener
Mountain Goat
- IPA
- Pale Ale
Little Creatures
- Pale Ale

For a good lager, I like either:
Red Stripe (Jamaica)
Peroni (Italy)
Sapporo (Japan)
I prefer the sharp biting taste of a lager with most meals, but around this time of year when the weather outside is frightful, I enjoy a good oatmeal stout, like the one made by Samuel Smith.
Also a fan of UFO and it's raspberry brother, and the following:
Sierra Nevade Pale Ale
Magic Hat #9
Sam Adams Scotch Ale (hard to find, but a must for all scotch fans)

Thanks BB and matt for your responses. I'm definitely going to check those Aussie micro-brews out if I can find any of them. I'm not really a big fan of any of the lagers you listed matt, although I will say that when I was on a pub crawl in Rome I did really enjoy the Peroni. Maybe it's a setting thing. Those ales you listed sounded great though and I'll be on the lookout for them.

Has anyone tried any beers by Victory? I had their Golden Monkey last night. It's a tripel ale and the motto on the box says "This tripel do you good!" I wasn't too fond of it last night but I didn't pair it with any food that would go well with it.
I also picked up this Irish Red by a company called O'Mara's. I had their stout one time and it was amazing. I'd have to say my favorite stout so far is Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout. Anyone know any great stouts?

There's a little boutique brewery in Oregon called Hair Of The Dog. Every beer is "big", like barley wine styles. They're amazing, and are even getting noticed in the National mags, like beerAdvocate and Draft. Maybe that means its available in NC?

Hair of the Dog is a strong one for sure. My favorite Oregon beer at the moment is Roots Organic, they don't really bottle, but if anyone is in Portland check them out.

I went to the world market with gift card the other day and a guy in the liquor area was eying these three beers with corks in them. I happened to walk up and he said to me, "This is a great beer, its not pasturized or filtered!" I had never heard of the brew before and was kind of suprized the guy said that because i had went to the world market to try some foreign brews. I was planning on just picking out whatever but since he went to the trouble to recomend it i picked up the dark one called Chimay: Grande Reserve.
Come to find out these ales are brewed by the monks of the Abbey of Scourmont at Chimay, an order of the Cistercians of the strict observance, known as Trappists. Find out more about these ales that are refermented in the bottle at their website
http://www.chimay.com/
It was Very good and i felt as if the spirit of the drunken monks was within me as i danced and sang along with the stereo! Try it if you see it around. There are also a red and Whit label one i need to try.
When i went to ring up my Chimay, Peroni and Negra modelo i handed the girl my gift card and said, " getting drunk off of grandmas gift card!" The girl started laughing and handed me back my gift card with $25 still on it, thats next weeks beer!!
Some of my favorites are Negra Modelo, Red Stripe, Heineken

I can't believe the price of quality beer these days, with the price of hops through the fackin' roof.
A six pack of Dead Guy goes for $11 right now, just 100 miles from the brewery!
I think it has something to do with the ethanol car-fuel craze.
Deschutes is another good microbrew around here, especially black butte porter and shakespear stout.
This is a good thread.

My friend sent me this with his camera phone. This price is per bottle!!
Full Sail is in Hood River, Oregon and it is employee owned. The beer I like the best that they brought out is called Session. It's a smooth lager that comes in Stubby bottles and has great prices at the local bars, usually $2 a bottle.

Roots just released its epic ale for 2007. I was there for the release party and they were serving an epic 06. Fantastic!
It's thier heather ale that I mention somewhere in this topic. Truely the best heather ale I've ever had, and i do try them when I find them. Thiers won a bronze medal at the Great american beer fest one year. (same brewer and recipe but at a previous brewery)
Roots is expanding! Just wait till you get back, they should be opening the expansion early this summer.

Check it out, organic brews have NOT gone up. I'm seeing them on the shelves right next to the ever more expensive non organic ales.

Deschutes makes some AMAZING imperial and double ales. They just had a tasting at the Rose n Thistle. Wow who knew! The abys imperial IPA was astounding, but my favorite was the double black butte porter.

Cool, thanks. I don't know Craig, but I grew up with Jason. Also, if you happen to know the master homebrewer who helped build their bar tell him hey for me ;)
Thanks for sharing this, wish I could have a pint of Heather right now.

After reading your praises for organic brews, I picked up a 6'er of Stone Mill's Organic Pale Ale. It's got an interesting taste. I'm not sure I really get the difference between the organic brews and regular brews? It's got an interesting flavor though. Not sure if it's going to become my next favorite or anything. What are companies putting in their brews to make them NON-organic? What's the difference?

It's not the flavor, it's the ingredients used and how they are grown. With a place like Roots Organic, you have pride in all aspects of the brew.
Also, as a side note, Roots Organic is also a dirt that many "growers" use in Oregon. It is not affiliated with the brewery, and I can not say if this had any part of the naming process.
We also have Amnesia Brewing which could possibly be the owners favorite coffee shop in A-dam ;)

Gotta love a good beer to quench the cotton mouth. Stay away and please don't buy the mega crap beer brands(Budweiser, Miller, Coors, etc..) as they are one of the big supporters of the drug war. They only want their drug legal.

They also lobby to make laws that make things difficult for craft breweries.
Also, most craft brewers are also connousaurs of the fine herb as well. :p

FREE BEER
is a beer which is free in the sense of freedom, not in the sense of free beer.
The project, originally conceived by Copenhagen-based artist collective Superflex and students at the Copenhagen IT University, applies modern free software / open source methods to a traditional real-world product - namely the alcoholic beverage loved and enjoyed globally, and commonly known as beer.
FREE BEER is based on classic ale brewing traditions, but with addded Guaranį for a natural energy boost. The recipe and branding elements of FREE BEER is published under a Creative Commons (Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5) license, which means that anyone can use the recipe to brew their own FREE BEER or create a derivative of the recipe.
