I'm looking for some opinions on gel 2 root. I am trying some right now so I guess I will find out soon. I just wanted to know if anybody else has had success with them.

what i've gotten results with seems gels work well to patch a clone cut but i like the powder...just personal

Are you talking about those gel blocks that come in a package of 6? If you are I am interested in how they work. I saw them at lowe's the other day and I thought them rather curious.

They sound the same 2 me. The one I got came with a little plastic hot house. It's made by Supa plants in the U.K. It has only been 4 days so no roots yet.

Then you are not talking about rooting gel vs. powder?
I have not seen those cubs so give us a full report on your progress please many would be interested.
Did you use Anti-Wilt with your cutting too; it will improve your chance of success.

Kinda like what that credit card commercial used to say: Anti-Wilt...don't leave clone without it!
Peace.

It’s been 8 days now and there is no sign of roots. They look nice and healthy and green just no roots. I think I might put three of the clones in rock wool and rooting hormone in a few more days. Should I cut the end of the stem again if I do this?

First LiveGreenLoveLife I assume you know lights can and will kill young roots so using those clear cups is not the best idea unless you have a way to keep the light of of them that is. FYI
Now Mr420ak
It can take 10-14 days for some strains to produce roots, if you see the little bumps forming on the stem that is where the root will emerge from first.
Anti-wilt will extend the life of a cutting for many weeks keeping it healthy and moist from the inside out; thus increasing your chance of success with your clones.
Happy growing

oh , of course i am aware that lights are detrimental; to roots, I just think that those little cups are a funny, novel kind of idea, not that i am assuming that they are a useful product. Plus it seems it would be kind of odd to plant a giant gelatin block.

Thank you for the advice. I did not use anti wilt because I've just never used it before and don't know a good brand. Is all anti-wilt pretty much the same? Any way the little hot house that came with the gel seems to have worked well enough to keep them from wilting.
It’s been 11 days now and still nothing, not even a little bump yet. I took 2 out yesterday, cut the stems again, dipped them in cloning gel and stuck them in rock wool cubes. I will post pics next time. I think I should have built your bubble clonner. Can I still buy plugs from you?

You probably should have just let the cuttling continue to try and root. Now you have to start all over again.
Good luck good sir

but the question is, How vigorous is a cutting going to be that takes between 10 and 20 days to root? the answer ,probably not very vigorous at all even downright stunted. Just a thought

You could always make your own plugs out of neoprene garden kneeling pads. Or you can buy custom made neoprene collars (http://nationalgardenwholesale.com/ngw/gardening_supplies.aspx?request=EZ-CLONE-REPLACEMENT-INSERTS&title=Trays%20/%20Reservoirs%20/%20Grow%20Systems&type=product) in your area from: Far North Garden Supply, 2834 Boniface Pkwy.,Anchorage, AK 99504 (Map (http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?addr=2834%20Boniface%20Pkwy%2E&csz=Anchorage+AK+99504&country=US))

All the clones that stayed in the gel to root died. I sprayed them with some soybean oil stuff that was supposed to treat wilt. All the clones that got it died. I did not spray the biggest one of the two that were removed from the gel and put in rock wool. That one took another week to root and is vigorous as a sativa can be and over a foot tall. I am thinking of making it a mother and just cloning from it. Thank for the advice everybody.

Yea....I tried them also...didn't work.
There isn't enough air and plus they are clear......I wonder how well it would work if you bubbled compressed O2 through a small tube into the gel putting it into suspension and painting the cups black...no reason to reinvent the wheel besides curiosity

I spoke with Zandor not too long ago, and he said that he has plenty of them left.
Come on, if you all need them, help out the show and get them from the Z man
thank you

I tried these Gel2Root tubs without sucess because I didn't read the instructions!! .....I can make my my VCR/DVD player work without reading the instructions, why the hell was I going to read instructions for making clones?...
I dipped the cuttings in rooting hormone powder before putting them in the tubs. The instructions clearly say not to do this. Doh!
One day I'm gonna try again, but I'll read the instructions first.
