Cannabis - reclassification or decriminalisation?

Talking with Tatchell talks to Lib Dem MP Dr Evan Harris and Sebastian Saville of the drug agency Release who both believe proposals to reclassify cannabis as a class B drug are flawed. Does the gateway theory - that users of cannabis will move onto class A drugs - hold true? Full programme here

It is my belief that prohibition does not work. When we had it here in the states for booze all it did was lead to gang wars and death. The only difference now is that we as smoker DO NOT kill anyone including ourselves. Until we can break the "Reefer Madness" mindset and show the world that there are other things more dangerous like driving and talking on your cell phone and crossing agianst a trafic light they will live in ignorance! Your friend Dubnky ;)

No doubt. The entire reason that alcohol probition was called off was from the increase in Mob racketeering. Al Capone would not have been shit without illegal Liquor.

It struck me the other night, that the press needs to be educated about good weed, it's not that it's X times stronger than the resin of the 70s, but that the resin of the 70s due to long transit time or whatever could be up to 100 times weaker than a decent well-grown sensimilla.

I'm living proof that the herb is not a gateway drug.

Sometimes I wonder if the present system, certainly the system where I live, where we have growshops, seeds for sale and the sun, and it's all fairly low-key might be the best compromise possible. I wonder if complete legalisation and taxation would take away the mystery of maria, I hate to think what the big money and advertising agencies would do to her, they certainly tend to fuck up anything else they touch, read sport, music etc. Of course someone who has had their family life ruined by prohibition or served jail time isn't going to feel quite so complacent, but here at least that doesn't tend to happen to growers for personal consumption. So turn a blind to 6-10plants per person and get on with something else.

as i look back and see my awakening coming about i became more and more distrustful and disbelieving in the medical system why heck fire melvin i watched as they comforted both my parents right off this old sphere with morphine...duh, did i legally euthanize my own folks by thier hospice plan which is real big here in the states...they put kervorkin in prison because he says what it is but they are compassionate and easing the suffering...bullshit
