Hey guys,
I thought Roots would make a fantastic subject matter to scrutenize and focus on. What is the nature of roots, how do they grow and what makes them tick. I've found lots of information bits throughout the eppisodes, but a segment just on the bread behind the butter would be fantastic.
Feeding nature of roots, Trimming of roots, Growth rate and growing patterns...what to expect from your roots. What happends when a plant becomes rootbound? what are the pro's and con's of a large root structure. how can a rootbound, or smaller structure be accomodated.
See, i think a good segment on roots could be good. I of cource, am just one man.
Peace easy

What roots do you use or find useful?
I realize that i don't know as much about roots as I could.
I currently use ginseng, i know a number of people who swear by valerian root.
If not a full show, then at least a small segment?

Ginseng is a fantastic root, but i was reffering specificly to the cannabis root. Not to eat or anything, just to understand.

I also think learning a bit more about what goes on in the soil is a good topic. A healthy root is vital to a big healthy plant. The soil is important but to understand what goes on in the roots and in the root zone can bring your understanding of plant growth in to the upper echelons.
But it can be and probably is an advanced subject of study. I have a family member that studies plants science and I learn lots of good stuff from her, and I am starting to understand that what goes on in and around the roots is poorly understood even by the scientists.
One thing I wonder about is if the cannabis plant can benefit from having a mycorrhizal symbiosis and if so witch fungi are usable fore this purpose?
I have been reading a great book by Paul Stamets called “Mycelium Running” and he states that most plants have this kind of symbiosis and is given a number of benefits. It is supposed to promote root and shoot growth, increased foliage, and increased tolerance against environmental extremes. And these “endophytic” fungi help plants defend against insect, fungal, and bacterial parasites.

I thought I covered that in some detail in the organic series?
But a show just on roots and focusing on root health and treatment is a good idea. I will try to work in in the list of topics.
Thanks great idea.
Peace
