View Full Version : More Gary Fisher?
Hi, I'd like to hear Gary Fisher talk more about the LSD therapy/research he conducted on adults after he stopped working with children in the early 60s. His stories are very striking.

I agree that I should get more of Gary's thoughts recorded. When he called the other day to tell me that Laura Huxley had just died, we talked about doing an interview about her. (They were friends for over 50 years, and he has some great stories about her an Aldous.) . . . And I'll be sure to get him to talk more about his research in the 50s and 60s. ... thanks for your comment . . . Gary will be pleased. :)

That would be really neat Lorenzo. Everything from or about the Huxleys is always ingenious inspiration.

I liked Gary's stories but I still can't believe the guy never was able to do LSD or psychedelics and see hallucinations for fear of closing his eyes. Thats according to Terrence Mckenna at least.

I think it was on one of the Gary Fisher talks that Lorenzo mentioned how it would be great to have some people work with him and go through all the photos of the child patients and have Gary talk about them and tell stories, etc.
And I thought about how great it would be to have this done, and have all other relevant Elders still with us, to have all of their stories and papers, and what ever other information they may have, and get it all archived!
How much would such a project cost? Perhaps we could, through Lorenzo and the Salon, get some sort of fundraising drive going with clearly outlined goals and let people chip in to get this stuff all archived and catalogued!
Just look what happened to Terrence McKenna's library! Atleast we have so many of his own written books, and numerous recorded talks he gave, otherwise his name would truly have been just dust in the wind! But thanks to modern technology, we do have pieces of him still left around. I would hate for that not to happen for people such as Fisher, Stolaroff, etc. And while they do have much published stuff out there, I think it would be beneficial to get as much out there as possible. I would eventually love to see a documentary done about these Elder pioneers of inner space, and a project like this could help it!!!
Any thoughts anyone???

I think that Terence must have been speaking about someone else. As far as I know, Terence and Gary never met.

While visiting with Gary we came across a short report he wrote in 1963 in which he provides detailed information about the 11 children he treated with psychoactive medicines. Since his investigation wasn't done according to the more strict standards of today's medical research, it won't provide any absolute answers, but it certainly puts a spotlight on the potential these medicines have for working with severely disturbed children.
Once I've finished re-typing it, I plan on recording a conversation between Gary and Dr. Charlie Grob to discuss it. Hopefully I'll have this little project finished next month.

Very nice. . .I started off with the Salon soaking up as much Terrence McKenna stuff as I could, but now I'm most definitely more interested in stuff from Fisher, Stolaroff, etc. I've even begun studying(in spare time) Transpersonal Psychology and have found it very valid in my life so far! What a wonderful, beautiful world that exists and most people taking these substances have NO idea!!!
But, I considered the passing of Dr. Hoffman to be a signal of a new era, and the fact that he was able to see the restarting of LSD research before he died is all so telling. There truly is another generation that is coming up right now and it's everyone in this next wave that are going to be the new pioneers, I believe. Although, there are still many pioneers around today who have been doing this for so long. . .I just sent my well wishings to Sasha Shulgins Caringbridge site the other day!!!
Ahhh, so much to talk about. . .I really think we will start to see more and more broadcasts from our community in the near future, it's almost necessary at this point! ;)
But the more information we have passed on from the Elders, the better for us all.
