I am getting a 600 watt 120 volt Lamutek digital ballast. What is the absolute best bulb to run with it? I have heard stories of some bulbs not working and burning out after a month, I have heard a bad thing about hortilux eye. Opinions?

I had not heard that, I used hortalux for years with great results. But I have not used the digital ballasts either. There is not a special bub for them that I know of. Maybe some else know's and will reply.

I suggest you compare lumens between each bulb supplier. 1000bulbs.com has the specs for many brands you can compare them easy that way.

A lot of the digital ballasts were burning up some types of grow bulbs. Lumitek's latest revision ballast is supposed to be ok. I have a 600W Lumitek with a Grolux bulb. Works great.

anyway, Latewood has a ton of reliable info on this.

You can use the standard 1000w phillips hps. Best not to put horti and super hps in lumatek for longevity of the lamp itself. A standard bulb works better.

I believe you will find that you still might blow a lamp here and there. lumatek is however attempting to modify the ballast to address the problem, but at last info session I was told...they are blowin all the bulbs. who knows'eh?

go standard phillips, was what I was told. It is cheaper; Too:).

However; If you must see for yourself, then lumatek will replace lamps, but you have the "damn turnaround time"...So; expect to buy 2 expensive bulbs in order to have a back up if you choose this avenue. Hope this helps.
