Hello all, thanks for tuning in. I have decided to grow some plants using the hempy bucket method, I think I'm going to grow 9 because it can fit into a perfect square, and it will have a much shorter veg than 4 would.

Supplys:

1. 4x4 Hydrohut (Actually 4'6''x4'6'') (There's a 3x3 hut, would that be better?)
2. Rooting hormone
3. 600 watt electronic Lumatek ballast or Galaxy?
4. SilverStar 6" Air cooled Reflector
5. yo-yo hanging system (Can they hold a Silverstar+bulb?)
6. General Hydroponic basic veg and bloom fert
7. Rockwool plugs
8. Perlite and vermiculite
9. Hortilux bulb
10. Ec+pH meter
11. Temp+Humidity meter
12. Ducting 24''
13. Oscillating fan
14. CFL+Mini green house for rooting clones and a mother
15. 6'' Vortex Fan Carbon Filter Combo
16. Timer (Recommendations?)

17. In your opinion should I get an MH or should I just veg with the HPS?
18. Do I need a contactor for one light?
19. Do I have to attach a plug to the blower manually?
20. Do those odor jars work for harvesting?
Getting some Sensi seeds northern lights (original one I believe) and some SSH from Mr.Nice.

21. Has anyone had experience with these sites for ordering supplies?

I think that's everything, am I missing anything? Any suggestions/ comments/ help is greatly appreciated!

Well, I am not Zandor, but i am not chopped liver either. LOL
Z is tied up repairing the homestead...anyway, I will address some of the things on your list.

Hello all, thanks for tuning in. I have decided to grow some plants using the hempy bucket method, I think I'm going to grow 9 because it can fit into a perfect square, and it will have a much shorter veg than 4 would.

Supplys:

1. 4x4 Hydrohut (Actually 4'6''x4'6'') (There's a 3x3 hut, would that be better?) bigger the better
2. Rooting hormone good for cloning
3. 600 watt electronic Lumatek ballast or Galaxy? digital ballast are not very efficient yet. They burn up bulbs. In fact. you must use a standard phillips bulb with digital ballasts. No high performance bulbs will work in digital ballasts.
4. SilverStar 6" Air cooled Reflector
5. yo-yo hanging system (Can they hold a Silverstar+bulb?)
6. General Hydroponic basic veg and bloom fert Get GH 3-part
7. Rockwool plugs Zandor hates rockwool, but if you follow directions you cna use it. I like it for cloning
8. Perlite and vermiculite What for? if you are doing soil mix, then you need perlite.
9. Hortilux bulb Use a tried and true magnetic ballast, and you can use a hortilux.
10. Ec+pH meter
11. Temp+Humidity meter
12. Ducting 24''
13. Oscillating fan
14. CFL+Mini green house for rooting clones and a mother
15. 6'' Vortex Fan Carbon Filter Combo
16. Timer (Recommendations?) Iguana timers are great, and allow you to run lights. fans can be used while lights are on/off
17. In your opinion should I get an MH or should I just veg with the HPS? I have a 400w MH for veg. it does cut down on stretching. but the hortilux, and sunmaster bulbs added green/blue/purple spectrum to help limit stretching
18. Do I need a contactor for one light? ???contactor???
19. Do I have to attach a plug to the blower manually? too vague
20. Do those odor jars work for harvesting? I harvest into a brown paper bag, after 4-7 days in a dark closet...then into mason jars. don't know abour the jars you mentioned
Getting some Sensi seeds northern lights (original one I believe) and some SSH from Mr.Nice.

21. Has anyone had experience with these sites for ordering supplies? I order my stuf thru bghydro. I use a link at hygronomics.com they are an affiliate to bghydro.

Hey LW,

I kind of take for granted that you've already forgot more than I have ever learned about growing, much respect.

Anyway, this is the second time I seen you post this info. I have a 400W mag and a 400W digi. I want to get a third 400W and would love to go digi because of the approx 10% power savings ( I measured this) and the flexability of going either MH or HPS.

In my digi setup I use second tier high performance bulbs. You know, the store brands from HTGSUPPLY OR HIDHUT that claim to have enhanced spectrum. So far, no problems with the bulbs in either ballast. Is there a place that I can learn more about the state of the art with digi ballasts.

I hope this is in the spirit of the thread and not a selfish hijack. If it is, please shoot me.

Thanks,
S_F

Bigger is better... I don't think I'll ever upgrade though, 600 watts can yield a hell of a lot of personal...

What's better, a digital ballast with a phillips bulb, or a magnetic with a hortilux?

What about those new HID "White" lights, will they be the new thing?

GH 3 part, what are the 3 parts?

What is a substitute for rockwool, and why does Zandor hate it?

Perlite and verm for my Hempy buckets.

I think I'll just use the HPS for flower and veg, my vegges will never be more than two weeks...

How many watts will I need for a mother and several clones, 100 watts of fluoro?
Thanks!!!

hey guys. I am just relaying industry info. If you take it with a grain of salt...cool I am also glad to have someone mention that they have used and love digital ballasts.

Now; The people that I get my research testing info from...Could sell me a 300$ digital ballast if they told me it was the best, because I trust them. (I am entering the commercial greenhouse vegetable industry w/ contracts, and "their" support has allowed me to make a lot of better decisions in starting a greenhouse business)

Instead of selling me a 300$ digi, they tell me to stay with magne....I don't know man...hehhehhehh but that says a lot to me. Sooooooo...I trust them, they tell me to buy magnetic. Oh yeah, I buy "raw" and wire my own systems.

I believe that every grower is going to learn and buy supplies that fit his style of growing, parameters, and imagination. my hat is off to all of you

I also mis-stated efficiency. digitals are effecient. they just blow up bulbs. As I mentioned. some people and perhaps a certain bulb..grolux perhaps. works. and a plant was grown. peace

It is really up to you. go with older proven reliable techno, or take a chance. I build my own advanced lighting systems for under 300 bucks with high performance lamp.

What about those new HID "White" lights, will they be the new thing?

link please???

GH 3 part, what are the 3 parts? Grow - Micro- Bloom

What is a substitute for rockwool, and why does Zandor hate it?

Oasis, Rapid rooters, for hydro...for soil. Peat pellets (jiffy) or buy a bag of seed starting mix, and plant in cups.

Perlite and verm for my Hempy buckets. Go for it.

I think I'll just use the HPS for flower and veg, my vegges will never be more than two weeks...

You can veg your stuff under same light as MOM, and clones. I do.

How many watts will I need for a mother and several clones, 100 watts of fluoro? Thanks!!!

a T5 unit would work. or wire some cfl's. I use a 400 watt MH, but have used 3-4 45 watt cfl's = 4 x 150w output = 600w if you have a good environment, and want to veg for a couple weeks, you will yield stronger buddage froma stronger light, although I am starting to admire growers vegging with T5's.

Most of this is something you just have to choose. Have fun, and grow big. peace
