i had some freebe seeds from a company(durban poison ex stock)instead of getting like 10 i got about 50.
now the problem is i cant get the bloody things to germ some will crack but thats as far as it seems to go,ive tryed the paper towel method, poping the seeds in a glass of bottled water for 24 hours, also tryed scuffing them.
when i open the seeds by hand it looks sound.
any ideas zandor?

Old seeds. get new stock. Even if they germ they will probably be prone to all sorts of problems. Sorry Bro.

The Kid is right. You need new stock. How many have you tried to germ so far?

Mix: 25ml. food grade hydrogen peroxide and 1 drop super thrive into (1) gallon water.

Fill a clear glass with the mixture and drop some seed into the glass. (If you are planting in soil use the remander of the mix to pre soak the soil.)

Cover the glass with plastic wrap and put the glass in a warm and dark location.

In about 4-5 days (if the seeds are any good) the seed husks will come off and float up to the top, while the seed body will sink to the bottom of the glass.

Throw out the seed husks and plant the seed to the first set of leaves.

I used to have the same problem when i first started. I never had one seed pop out of like 50. So i got myself a new batch, soaked the seeds in distilled water over night and placed it on a heating pad on low. The next day 90% of the seeds had cracked, so either it was my seeds that were the problem or my methods, probaly a little bit of both. Ive had alot of success doing it this way and its nice and simple. Hope this helps.

I tell you. I had a canadian seed bank owner mention to me once. "I just plant the seed in dirt, and watch it grow." that is the easiest way to start a seed. I also love to use peat pellets. For hydro, I use oasis, and rockwool.

I just posted these options for future reference. :)

From what I can tell, everyone's comments are accurate...you'll just have to try them all and see what happens. :)

I believe that seeds like to germ at temps in the upper 70s to low 80s F.

Good luck! :)

Here's a pictorial of the process.

pH the mixture to 5.8

In about 4-5 days (if the seeds are any good) the seed husks will come off and float up to the top, while the seed body will sink to the bottom of the glass. (If they only crack let them go a few more days and if they still don't come out of their husk you can carefully peal the husk away by hand. Just make sure your hands are clean if you do it by hand.)

Throw out the seed husks and plant the seed to the first set of leaves.
