Drug users smoking toads to get high

Forget about cocaine, cannabis and all those other boring drugs. Doing some amphibian is the new way to get high.

According to officials in the US, smoking toad is the latest craze among drug users.

Toad licking has been done for a number of years, and is parodied in TV shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy.

However, smoking the animal has become popular. Venom is extracted from the Sonoran Desert toad on the Colorado River.

The venom, which is secreted when the toad is angry or scared, contains a hallucinogen called bufotenine - it can be dried and then smoked.

In October, a man from Kansas City was charged with possessing a controlled substance after police determined he had a toad with the intent to use it to get high.

There are thought to be sites on the Internet which tell users how to extract the venom.

Yeah this toad situation showed up in my local newspaper for the second time, just a couple of days ago. That guy was arrested as part of a sting the police up there had been working on for over a year. Honestly they just wanted to get their arrest numbers as high as possible. I posted a rather lengthy comment below the article.

So many things about this burn me up... and I can't BELIEVE jenkem is also mentioned. This Vicky person sounds like a real winner, of course having a job in "prevention services" must really suck. What do you do for work? Ohhh, I "prevent." Her attitude is dismal, refering to the kids she works with as idiots? Where do they find these people?

These toads are "milked" for their venom. The large glands on either side of the head, behind the eyes are where it is produced. The frogs are held tightly and the glands squeezed to produce a white milky substance.

Correct Max. The "Milk" is dried on a mirror of piece of glass then scraped up after dried and smoked.
